Ethan Hawke has not only established himself as an actor but also as a credible director in Hollywood. The actor is currently marking his presence at the Venice Film Festival. But even in the midst of this, he didn’t shy away from expressing his views regarding the much-talked-about Francis Ford Coppola’s self-funded $120 million projectMegalopolis.

He not only praised the legendary director but also seems like he’s gearing up for a move quite similar to that of Coppola. His most recent chit-chat hints at the same.

However, it seems like the actor is finally ready to join forces with filmmaker Richard Linklater inBlue Moon.
Interestingly, the actor had first come across the script of the same, based on the life of lyricist Lorenz Hart, almost more than a decade ago. During aninterview, the actor detailed how his initial excitement for the movie was met with a rather unique concern from Linklater.

The main concern of the filmmaker was that the actor was“too attractive”during the time to play Hart and suggested that they should wait a couple of more years until he aged a bit. Even though Hawke was perplexed after his reaction, he ultimatelyagreedto the same. He further added that after an interval of every few years, they would revisit the script, but the timing was just off.

However, after Hawke’s appearance onThe Jimmy Fallon Show, Linklater called him up and told him that it was finally time to work onBlue Moon. In the same interview, the actor also talked about his admiration for Francis Ford Coppola, who invested his personal resources to fund his movie.
He added,“I love that Coppola sold his winery to make that (Megalopolis) movie.”Further, adding that“I admire the hell out of it,”talking about such filmmakers, and also adding that even at such challenging times, he would never want to be a person unwilling to sell their house for a movie.
