Play The Mermaid’s Song
To play the Mermaid’s song, put your Flute Blocks down beside each of the small piles of stonealong the beach’s southern shore. These stones are the “code” to this puzzle.
When you put it down, a Flute Block’s tone begins at 1. Each time you activate a Flute Block, its tone goes up by 1.

If you’reverycareful, it’s possible to complete the puzzle using just one Flute Block by breaking it after each tone is played. This far intoStardew Valley, though, it’s probably easier to just build all five.
The number of stones in these piles reveals the correct tone to which each Flute Block ought to be tuned. Small stones count as one step, while the big ones count as five. For example, the first pile has two small stones; the correct tone is 2, requiring one activation.

Since the Flute Blocks start on 1,activate the Flute Blocks one less time than the stones indicate. If you activate them a number of timesequalto the stones' code, you’ll overshoot—an easy mistake!

After tuning your Flute Blocks, run past them from left to right. If you play her song correctly, the Mermaid will wave and reward you with 5 Golden Walnuts!
