After a year of anticipation,Hitman 3was eventually launched on Steam yesterday, but instead of making the community happy, it brought a lot of fury toward the developers due to some major issues.

IO Interactive is experiencing huge backlash on Steam and Reddit after the recent launch ofHitman 3on Steam as the game deals with game-braking bugs in the VR mode.

Originally launched back on June 02, 2025, it took IO Interactive exactly one year to deliverHitman 3and the whole trilogy of World of Assassination to Steam.

If you’ve happened to visitHitman’s sub-Reddit before its launch on Steam, the community was extremely happy and optimistic about the Steam launch, PC VR, and Year 2 content. However, the amount of backlash after launch was too high that theHitmansub-Reddit was closedtemporarily. But Why?

Hitman Sub-Reddit Goes Private Temporarily After Huge Backlash over Steam Launch

So, the backlash is due to multiple reasons, and all of them sound quite reasonable, which puts IO Interactive in a tight spot to apologize to fans sooner rather than later.

Hitman 3 PC VR is Almost Unplayable

With a quick look at thecommentsonHitman 3’s Steam page, you will soon realize that the game’s VR mode on PC is nothing but a disaster.

Many players have reported that they were not even able to complete the tutorial mission of VR due to a huge number of bugs and glitches.

You Should Queue for Playing the Hitman 3 Single-Player Campaign

This one has gotten many players angry.Hitman 3requires an online connection all the time, and you will not be able to enter the game until you are authenticated by IOI servers, which apparently are too slow that put players on a long queue for logging into a single-player game.

As a result, many players are not even able to enter the game, before they get to witness the broken VR experience.

Launching at Full $60 Price After One Year

Another problem that has caused a backlash over the Steam launch is the fact that IOI has pricedHitman 3for $60 a year after its original launch on Epic Games Store.

This is something that you only expect to see from greedy publishers such as Square Enix rather than IO Interactive. Most games are usually launched at $40 or $50 when they are heading to a new platform after a year.

Aside from the issues above, it seems like players are also furious about the implementation of the Elusive Target Arcade mode, which was added as a part of the Year 2 content update.

According toSteamDB, only 43% of the reviews are positive forHitman 3at the moment.

Hitman 3is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. You can play it for free through the Xbox or PC Game Pass.
