This cancellation is surprising given how impactful Hogwarts Legacy has been for the company in terms of revenue and sales.In cancelling this project, Warner Bros. had canned one of the few upcoming experiences fans were vehemently enthusiastic about.
Still, the project’s cancelation also makes sense when considering the pile of games Warner Bros. recentlythrewinto the dumpsterdue to studio shutdowns and restructuring.
Hogwarts Legacy has easily been one of the most successful recent titles in the Warner Bros. catalog, having soldover 30 million unitssince its release in 2023.
However, the success of Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t lessen the number of failures that Warner Bros. faced around its release.Titles likeSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leagueunderperformed atcritical levels, denying Warner Bros. the ambition of owning the next big live-service title.
