During the last decade, Hajime Isayama has created one of the greatest anime ever, gifting the fans one plot twist after another. Since the day Eren’s mother died due to the Colossal Titan and Armour Titan’s rampage, the greatest anti-hero of the modern generation was born.
The conclusion revealed that all of it was pre-planned by the protagonist himself since he had foresight from the Founding Titan. But the mangaka had a different say when asked about a certain incident in Eren’s life. Hajime Isayama said that Eren Jaeger’s life was like a rollercoaster with simultaneous events happening after joining the Survey Corps.
The Survey Corps Trial Changed Eren’s Life
After experiencing his mother’s death due to the Titans’ rampage, Eren Jaeger vowed to join the Survey Corps and kill every Titan on the surface of the planet. He prepared accordingly, and after a couple of years, he went to the trial for the Survey Corps along with his friends Armin Arlert andMikasa Ackerman. During the trial, the aspirants had to balance themselves on the ODM Gear. Mikasa and Armin quickly passed the test.

When it came to Eren, he could not balance on it. The instructor, Keith Shadis, rejected him. Eren begged for another chance and was called for a retry the next day. Keith Shadis asked another person to use the ODM Gear, and he also could not balance it. Later, it was revealed that the gear was broken, and Eren still managed to keep his balance.
Shadis declared that Eren Jaeger had successfully passed the trial. From there, Eren’s journey began, and the fans experienced a masterpiece. Every season was better than the last, and the sudden plot twists and betrayals made it more fascinating. But nothing would have happened if Eren Jaeger did not pass the trial.
Hajime Isayama Had Prevented Eren from Having A Rotten Life
Hajime Isayama had a hectic schedule until the end ofAttack on Titan. He had to make some last-minute changes for the finale and requested the MAPPA to feature it. Recently, he had an interview withCrunchyroll. He revealed several unknown facts about his magnum opus. During the interview, he was asked about Eren’s whereabouts if he had failed the Survey Corps’ trial.
He answered,
“I think Eren would have had a rotten life. He would have an unfulfilling life, to be honest. And being inside of Paradis, he probably would have continued to be oppressed and possibly just extinct without anything he could do about it. Or he might have lived without knowing that his end was coming soon. He might have just continued to live the 13-year time limit.”

A small scene would have had a massive impact on the protagonist’s life. It was only after joining the Survey Corps that he discovered his Titan Shifting ability. It is fair to say thatHajime Isayamadid not want Eren to lead a rotten life and wanted to become a legendary figure in the anime industry.
