Like many sitcoms of its kind,The Big Bang Theorywas no stranger to guest appearances, and a good amount of them left a notable impact on the fanbase. While it’s hard to imagine the sitcom without its main cast, which involves Sheldon, Penny, Leonard, Raj, and Howard, this didn’t stop some other less trivial characters from making a splash.
In some cases, a few of them left an indelible mark on the fanbase, which left them salivating for more of their appearances, especially these five figures.
Chuck Lorre’sThe Big Bang Theorydidn’t use them to their full potential
Unlike Leonard’s side of the family, Penny’s family members were beloved by most fans, especially her dad, Wyatt, played by Keith Carradine.

Having made his debut in Season 4, Episode 9,The Boyfriend Complexity, Wyatt’s limited appearances in the sitcom won fans over, especially his dynamic with Penny, and fans could’ve used a lot more of Wyatt than we got.
Another major hit among fans was Brian Thomas Smith’s Zack. Despite not being the sharpest tool, he seemed genuinely nice and chill, which can’t be said for Penny’s other ex, Kurt.
Bob Newhart’s Professor Proton is another one that fans would’ve loved to see more of, followed by Courtney Ford’s Alice, whose chemistry with Leonard remains quite underrated.
Although Sara Gilbert’s Leslie Winkle was heavily incorporated in the initial seasons, had she not been cut from the later additions, Leslie could’veserved as a great nemesisto Sheldon.
On the bright side, with spin-offs continuing theTBBTuniverse’s expansion, one can only hope to see some of them return in future shows.
Kaley Cuoco almost never made it as Penny
It’s hard to imagineChuck Lorre‘sTBBTwithout any of the main cast members, especially Kaley Cuoco’s Penny. However, we were close to losing Penny at the very beginning, as the original pilot for the show comprised Amanda Walsh’s Katie in the shoes of Penny.

But given how toxic she proved during the testing, the execs at the top asked Lorre to get things right, to which he complied. Former CBS Entertainment chairwoman Nina Tassler added (viaCinemaBlend):
There was so much about the pilot that did work. But there were parts of the script that didn’t work, and we had to recast an actress. [Chuck Lorre] is such an extraordinary talent. He had a great concept and wonderful chemistry between the two leads, so I asked him if he would try again.
With Lorre showing no signs of slowing down with hisTBBTspin-offs, hopefully, we’ll see some returning figures as theTBBTuniverse branches out more.
