In theDragon Balluniverse, the only character that is debated to be stronger than the protagonist, Goku, is his first son, Gohan. Many fans believe that Gohan’s achievements as a kid inDragon BallZ were far more commendable than Goku’s. He was the youngest Saiyan to attain the power of Super Saiyan in the world.

Not only that, but he was also the first Saiyan to reach Super Saiyan 2, and he did so while fighting Cell, who is considered to be one of the most evil villains in theDragon Ballworld. Even the likes of Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks couldn’t reach that level. Today marks the 31st anniversary of Gohan doing the unthinkable.
As soon as the news about Gohan’s accomplishment reached the internet,Dragon Ballfans came together to celebrate it because many still believe that Gohan reaching Super Saiyan 2 was the greatest moment in the history ofDragon Ball.

Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 Made Him Stronger Than Goku
When Gohan was first introduced inAkira Toriyama’sDragon Balluniverse, he was just a shy kid who would hide behind his father. However, circumstances forced him to fight and get stronger. He then took training from Piccolo and became a decent fighter. But his true potential was still hidden and was only known to Goku.

During the Cell games, when every fighter lost against Cell, the fate of the universe was left on Gohan’s shoulders. Although initially, he was afraid when Goku asked him to fight Cell, as the fight progressed, Gohan was able to do something that shocked every character present during the fight, even Goku.
When Cell juniors target Gohan’s friends and family, he gets so angry that he unlocks Super Saiyan 2 and destroys all the Cell juniors. Not only that, Gohan even defeats Cell without much pressure. This was the biggest moment for Gohan, and it proved that Gohan was way stronger than Goku, even though he was just a small child.

Dragon BallFans Celebrate Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2
There were a lot of things that contributed to Gohan achieving Super Saiyan 2, but the biggest aspect was Goku’s trust in his son. Goku was well versed in Gohan’s hidden potential, and he believed in him so much that he even gave a Senzu bean to Cell before their fight. This made Gohan’s victory over Cell even cooler.
Dragon Ballfans still find this moment that took place 31 years ago to be one of thegreatestDragon Ballmoments of all time. They took to X(Formerly Twitter) to celebrate this moment and express its impact on Toriyama’s magnum opus.
