The list of Golden Globes winners is out, and Timothée Chalamet has lost to Adrien Brody in the lead actor category. The competition was tough this year with some of the most impactful movies filled with power-packed performances for the awards. Two of the most powerful contenders on that list were Timothée Chalamet and Adrien Brody for their moviesA Complete UnknownandThe Brutalist, respectively.

While Chalamet played the role of a young Bob Dylan in the biographical film, Brody portrayed the story of an immigrant finding his footing in America after escaping the war.Although many had high hopes for Chalamet to seize his chance and bag the award, Brody’s win did not exactly come as a surprise.

However, this has surely made the competition for the Oscars tougher, according to many fans. Incidentally, if Chalamet loses again to Brody in the Academy Awards, he would lose the chance to break a 23-year-old record in the history of the Oscars forever.

This would be Timothée Chalamet’s last chance to break the record and make one of his own, as the 28 year old actor does not have another movie release lined up until he is 29. Which was the age Brody won his Oscar. However, after the predictions of his Golden Globes win went down the drain people are much more on edge about the upcoming Oscars.

Adrien Brody gave a shout-out to Timothée Chalamet during his acceptance speech

Adrien Brody has been having a tremendous time at the Golden Globes this year. Not only did he manage to bag the best actor in a drama award right after his director Brady Corbet won his own award for the movie. Not only that,The Pianiststar ended the evening with his movieThe Brutalistwinning in the best drama film category.

Although this made his movie a forerunner in the Oscars, all hope might not be lost for Timothée Chalamet yet. In fact, Adrien Brody himself gave a shout out to his fellow competitor“Timmy”during his acceptance speech according toVanity Fair.

Last month,he took to Xto express his appreciation forThe Kingstar, saying,“Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”Moreover,Chalamet’s co-star in the movie,Edward Nortonalso showed his support during an interview withVanity Fair.

Does this movie get made without Timothée being unusually right to play [Dylan]? Let’s forget whether Timothée has had some hit movies lately that helped them rationalize in making this movie, which is great. I think it’s so beautiful that he said, ‘This is what I want to do.’

If Timothée Chalamet had managed to win the award, it would have put him on the same list with industry veterans likeAustin Butler, for his performance asElvis PreslyinElvis,Joaquin Phoenixfor his Johnny Cash act inWalk The Line, as well asJamie FoxxasRay CharlesforRay. However, there are fans who are still hoping for his Oscar sweep.

Especially as Brody himself lost the Golden Globes in the year of his Oscar win. Although it is hard to say what the final result will be, it seems like it will be an event to remember regardless.
