As we’re getting closer to the launch ofGenshin ImpactVersion 2.1, more leaks have been shared by the usual data miners and leakers, most notably when it comes to the Spiral Abyss changes and the new Ley Line Disorders - Looks like we’re getting the biggest changes since launch in terms of endgame meta.

Genshin Impact2.1 leaks - Corrosion Ley Line Disorder on Floor 11 explained

According to leaked information from Sukuna, Floor 9 and Floor 10 in Version 2.1 will have the same Ley Line Disorders as in Version 2.0: Floor 9 will have the plasma field gimmick that deals Electro DMG, with its safe zone that slowly becomes smaller as you fight. Meanwhile, Floor 10 still uses the Leader and Attendants mechanics, where it’s best to kill all the Attendant mobs first. As for Floor 12, it’ll have no Ley Line Disorder.

However, Floor 11 specifically will bring in a new mechanic called Corrosion. It affects all party members whenever an enemy is defeated. A Corroded character will lose a part of their HP every second, and your active character can die from it too. As in, the effect doesn’t stop if your active character reaches 1 HP.

Meanwhile, non-active characters will stop receiving Corrosion damage when they have less than 15% of HP left. Lastly, Corrosion lasts for 10 seconds and will stack. Each stack is counted independently, and the duration resets each time you kill an enemy. Corrosion will be a huge game-changer for theGenshin Impactmeta.

How 2.1 Spiral Abyss completely changes theGenshin Impactendgame meta

If you’ve actually read this article this far, I’m sure you already know one of the strongest methods right now to clear the Spiral Abyss with all 36 Stars is using the Bennett Mona Vape combo. The Spiral Abyss has always been all about DPS. Since you need to kill enemies as fast as possible to get all the Stars. And Vaporize is one of the easiest ways to reach said DPS.

However, with Corrosion, Floor 11 isn’t only about how fast you can kill the mobs anymore, but how fast can you heal yourself. This will make healer role specialized characters like Barbara incredibly useful. Because there’s no way you’ll be able to get all Stars of Floor 11 without triggering Corrosion over and over again. Your only choice is to defeat the enemies while constantly healing yourself.

You’ll also have the Blessing to take into account. This buff, effective on all Floors, is usually beneficial. However, the one in Version 2.1 phase 2 will be a buff in exchange for HP loss after using an Elemental Burst:

Sangonomiya Kokomi and the new meta

It’s also important to note the Spiral Abyss Ley Line Disorders are always made in a way so that the newly released characters will get an advantage. This is miHoYo’s way to push whales players into pulling on the new banners. The fact that Floor 11 makes it so important to heal is to push players towards drawing Sangonomiya Kokomi, who will be released in Version 2.1. According to herleaked kit details, Kokomi will be one of the best healers, and she can also deal some damage.

Last but not least, while this isn’t what I imagined, this makes me hopeful for the battle gameplay ofGenshin Impactin the future. I believe miHoYo really needs to add some variety to the game instead of having all endgame content purely based on DPS.

The endgame meta ofGenshin Impacthas always been farming the right Artifacts with the right substats so you can kill things as fast as possible. And optimizing your CRIT damage. Most players don’t even bother with a healer character in their teams at all, as it’s a “waste” DPS-wise. Perhaps Version 2.1 Floor 11 is a prelude to what’s to come.

Genshin ImpactVersion 2.1 should be launching on September 1, and keep in mind all these Spiral Abyss leaks above are subject to change. Corrosion’s effects might be modified in the official release. But for now, what do you guys think about this new Floor 11? Will you pull Kokomi to get a new healer alongside Barbara? You can always reach out to me on Twitter@A_iyane07to share your impressions.
