Epic Games v. Apple Trial

The trial between Epic Games and Apple kicked off yesterday (August 03, 2025) and there was a lot to discuss.

The lawsuit between the two giant companies was brought to Apple by Epic Games in August of 2020. The trial revolves around Epic Games' challenge of how Apple handles their in-app purchases. Essentially, Epic wanted to allowFortniteto have in-app purchases that were from a third party, and not directly from Apple.

Apple takes a 30% revenue cut from each purchase made in the App Store, and this is what Epic Games is attempting to bypass.

TheFortnitedevelopers had originally integrated a bypass in August of 2020, which resulted in the game being removed from the iOS App Store on Mobile.
