Rocket Leagueis ramping up for a huge change to the game. Starting from September 23, the game will betransitioning from a paid title to Free to Playand in the process leaving Steam behind on PC for an Epic Games Store exclusivity. To celebrate the move to the Free to Play model, and no doubt the Epic exclusivity,Rocket LeagueandFortnitehave teamed up for a brand new “Llama-Rama” event.

The event, which runs from September 26 until October 12, will allow players to complete challenges and earnFortniterewards inRocket LeagueandRocket Leaguerewards inFortnite.

The officialFortniteblog postreads:

“The Battle Bus has a full tank of boost and is flying intoRocket League!Fortniteis celebratingRocket League’smove to Free to Play with Llama-Rama – a crossover event where players can completeRocket LeagueChallenges to unlock rewards for bothRocket LeagueandFortnite. It’s the perfect time to check out what Soccar is all about!”

During the event there will be a total of five different challenges, each earning different rewards, ranging from playing an online match to getting MVP in any Online Match with the newFortniteinspired Llama Wheels. Completing the final task will earn players the biggest reward, unlockingFortnite’sinfamous Battle Bus to use withinRocket Leagueand an Octane RL Back Bling for use withinFortnite.

To redeem the rewards withinRocket League, players will have to visit the Event Challenge Page on completion of each Llama-Rama challenge. Rewards will automatically unlock withinFortnite.

Alongside the upcoming switch to Free to Play, developers Psyonix confirmed that players willno longer require an active PS Plus or Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play the game.

Rocket Leagueis available now on Nintendo Switch, PC via Epic Games Store, PS4, and Xbox One and will be going Free to Play from tomorrow.
