October 5 is both a joyous and a sad day for fans of theSuper Smash Bros.series.

It marks the date that legendary developer Masahiro Sakurai reveals the final character that will be joiningUltimate’svery extensive roster.

Advance Wars™ 1+2: Re-Boot Camp for Nintendo Switch - Nintendo Game Details

Sakurai indicated that this last reveal would be a “celebration of gaming” and has left fans all over the globe speculating as to who it could be.

So, ahead of the reveal (which takes place onNintendo’s YouTube channelat 7 am PT, 10 am ET, 3 pm UK), here are five of our predictions on who the lastSmash Bros.DLC character could be.

Andy (Advance Wars)

Advance Warsis returning from the cold this December, and what better way for a bit of cross-promotion than to bring in the series' main character.

While it’d likely underwhelm a few, Andy has a ready-made moveset and could be a really exciting character.

He probably doesn’t fit the “celebration of gaming” mould that Sakurai mentioned, however,Advance Warsis a big part of Nintendo’s storied history.

Alongside Geno and Lloyd, Waluigi is one of the final meme characters yet to join the game. Ridley and King K. Rool made their debuts inUltimateand many, many players are hoping Waluigi will do the same in the second Fighter Pass.

Fortnite' Talk to the Joneses challenge: Where to find 5 Jonesy locations

Again, while he doesn’t necessarily fall into the “celebration of gaming” category, he would set Twitter alight should he be announced.

Arguably more fitting of the “celebration of gaming” title isKingdom Hearts’very own Sora.

The series has a very, verrrrry loyal fanbase, and the character’s name has been trending on social media for a few days with players hoping for an announcement.

While licensing may be a little issue, the Keyblade could prove to be an interesting weapon and one that would bring joy to millions.

Like Steve fromMinecraft,Jonesy fromFortniteis one of gaming’s most iconic characters from recent times.

Whether you like it or not,Fortniteis a behemoth and one that’s not shy of a crossover itself. Maybe it’s about time for Epic to return the favour and send one of its characters out?

Pyramid Head

Slightly more out of left-field, but for me, the one that would be the most exciting is Pyramid Head fromSilent Hill.

Rumours have been circulating for a while that the series is on its way back and what better statement of intent than to bring the series' most recognisable face (?) toSmash.
