If you were hoping that thefirst promotional videowould contain lots of excitement and animation, you should keep hoping for one of those things. Coming in at just over 35 seconds, the video doesn’t fail to get the blood pumping with the blaring sirens, but it is lacking in the animation department. The PV contains still images from firehouses, and nothing when it comes to the actual animation of the series. Granted, this series is still in the works and only three character designs have been revealed. But don’t be too discouraged yet, something that reveals a little more should be coming later this year.

Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M began as a manga written and illustrated by Masahito. The manga is an oldie; it was first serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine in September 1995, and ended its run in June 1999. Obviously this series didn’t just end with the manga though. An anime film by Sunrise was released a month after the manga ended its serialization, and a Japanese TV drama was broadcast on Fuji Television in 2004. The most impressive aspect is that twenty-one years after the first manga ended, a sequel titled Megumi no Daigo: Kyūkoku no Orange began serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen magazine. This sequel is what the 2023 anime adaptation will be based on.

The story follows three young, aspiring firefighters as they work to join team Orange, a special rescue team for Japan’s fire brigade. It’s basically guaranteed that this is one series this fall that will be filled to the brim with action.
