Nintendo Direct was just went live and right at the beginning the next mainline entry for the Fire Emblem series has been announced. Fire Emblem Engage is a new entry coming out as soon as January 2023.

Hopefully, the trailer shared some gameplay moments as well as briefly showcasing multiple main characters, including the main protagonist. Similar to Three Hopes, you’re able to expect a top-down turn-based tactical battle in Fire Emblem Engage.

Back in the time when a vicious dragon invaded Elyos, heroes from different realms were summoned to unite and fight the dragon. After slaying the dragon, the peace returned to Elyos again, but after one thousand years, it seems the evil dragon is resurrected, and this time around, in a new shape and more powerful than before. You will play as an Emblem warrior that awakes after one thousand years.

As the gameplay trailer reveals, you can expect a turn-based tactical battle system similar to Three Houses, but there will be some new mechanics and significant improvements.

According to a trailer, the protagonist holds a ring, which can be used to summon Emblem heroes from the past such as Marth and Celica to help you out in battles. In addition to aforementioned names, there will be some new heroes as well.

Fire Emblem Engage will be available exclusively on Nintendo Switch on June 06, 2025. In addition to the Standard Edition, there will be a Divine Edition including an Art Book, a set of Art Cards, a poster and the physical version of the game. More details will probably be shared about the game later this year as we get closer to its launch.

The announcement of Engage is actually a great surprise for Fire Emblem fans as they received Fire Emblem Three Hopes earlier this year as a spin-off from the series, which was developed by Omega Forces, the same studio that recently revealed that has started working on a triple-A hunting game in partnership with Koei Tecmo and Electronic Arts.
