Brad Venable, a prolific videogame and anime voice actor who played V’s familiar Griffon inDevil May Cry 5, recently passed away. Following his wife’s permission family, friends, and other members of the voice acting community made the new public on January 8th with tributes and personal memories:

Venable not only played inDevil May Cry 5, but also had roles inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Wars, the recentDemon’s Soulsremake,Fire Emblem: Three Houses,Astral Chain,Serious Sam 4, andFinal Fantasy VII Remake. In anime, he played Daz in the English dub ofAttack on Titan, and played roles inMy Hero Academia,Hunter x Hunter, andDragon Ball Super.

He was 43 at the time of his passing and no cause of death has been released as of this time of writing. Our thoughts are with Venable’s friends and family at this very sad time.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Editiondropped digitallyon November 10th for Xbox Series X and November 12th on PS5.The physical versionreleased on December 1st. Players will also have the option to turn up the difficulty with Legendary Dark Knight mode. This new horde mode will give even the most hardened devil hunter a run for their money. Players can also enable Turbo mode, which makes the whole gameplay at 1.2x speed, upping the on-screen insanity.

Of course, alongside the new content are several visual and technical improvements forPS5andXbox Series X.DMC5SEfeaturesray-tracing supporton the new consoles (except on Series S) and has greatly increased frame rates. There’s also the huge improvement both consoles have made to loading times via their SSDs. Back in February of last year, nearly one year after launching,ÂDevil May Cry 5was alreadythe best-selling gamein the series' history, according to Capcom. This information was released throughCapcom’s official websitewhere the total number of copies ofDevil May Cry 5that have been sold was stated at the time to be 3.1 million. This just slightly surpassed that ofDevil May Cry 4, which currently sits right at 3.0 million.
