Perhaps the biggest achievement of theMagic: The GatheringxFinal Fantasycrossover set is how it connects two card games together, thanks to artwork spread across two cards that was made available in limited numbers at special events.
The most surprising aspect of Square Enix agreeing to the Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy crossover is that the company has acompeting card game. The Final Fantasy TCG is a similar competitive collectible game, featuring characters from the entire franchise, not just the mainline sixteen entries.

Alisaie & Alphinaud Connect Two TCGs Together
The twin members of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn fromFinal Fantasy 14, Alisaie and Alphinaud Leceilleur, appear in shared artwork across two cards.
Alisaie appears on an alternate art version of Swords to Plowshares, one of the oldest cards in Magic: The Gathering, with the original dating all the way back to Alpha. Alphinaud appears on his own Final Fantasy TCG card, with an ability that lets himsearch for a different characterif he’s brought to the field via a Summon or ability.

The artwork of the two cards, drawn by Kodai Okamato, comes from the same picture, as they’re holding a Moogle, and its headball is split across the artwork.
While these cards were only made available for a very limited time, they’ll appear again at the Magic Spotlight: Final Fantasy event in Chiba, Japan, from June 27-29. Everyone else is going to have to fork out on the second-hand market for a chance to own thesecross-game crossover cards.
