The officialFinal Fantasy 7account has recently begun posting dailyQ&Ason Twitter about the upcomingFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Though limited in number, the posts have come as a relief to fans speculating about the development progress and quality of the game. The Q&A posts feature short answers from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth producer Yoshinori Kitase. They confirm that development is going smoothly, and also reassure fans that the second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will feature a spacious and multifaceted world, unlike its linear predecessor.ALSO READ:Activision Games Could Be Pulled From UK If Microsoft Acquisition RejectedIn the first so-called developer comment, Kitase mentions that development is “going according to plan” and that the team is currently “working on nailing down a release date” for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The second developer comment adds that the world of Rebirth will be “multifaceted” and will introduce a “high degree of freedom” in addition to allowing players to experience a “myriad of different stories” along the way.Unlike the original Final Fantasy 7, the first part of the remake project did not include a full-fledged open world. Instead, it took the opening section of the game–the industrial metropolis of Midgar–and padded it out into a full-fledged, semi-linear 40+ hour adventure.
Now, it seems that Rebirth will fix the limited world problem and recapture the charm of the original experience. This was hinted at once before when co-director Naoki Hamaguchi said thatHorizon Zero Dawn’s immersive worldand direction would serve as an inspiration for Rebirth. Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura also confirmed to4Gamerbefore that the Remake project will not change the past established in the original game.
In his words, the FFVII remake project “may express differences from the original,” but it is designed so that every player will have all the answers to the game’s mysteries by the end. Perhaps he meant that there will be no need for supplemental materials such as a spin-off game or an Ultimania book. Nomura also stated clearly that the “history of FF7 hasn’t been changed” in the Remake in the slightest, unlike what fans may speculate.
Some fans are alsolooking deeperinto the timing of this Q&A campaign, as it suddenly happened before the start of the Summer Game Fest, so they think there will be a new trailer in June, which is very fitting sinceFinal Fantasy 16is already on the doorstep and fans need a new obsession to live for after its launch.
