Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core Reunion - What Happened To Genesis

Crisis Core was a prequel to not only the original FF7, but also some of its squeals. And here’s what these games told us about Genesis.

Queen’s Blood opponents have a rank that determines the power of their cards, with Cloud needing to increase his own rank to be able to challenge those opponents effectively. Queen’s Blood and card collecting can be a challenge; here are some tricks and tips to help.

10Retry Often

Try, Try, And Try Again

Even in the story-focused games of Queen’s Blood, players can retry as often as they’d like with no penalty and only need to win once. Retrying allows for a different strategy to be used, a new first hand to be drawn, and both the same for your opponent.

Sometimes, a game of Queen’s Blood isn’t determined by skill but by luck based on the cards both players draw. Never be afraid to hit pause and restart if your first few turns are spelling defeat, and devote your time to a hopefully better game.

9Make A Strong First Turn

Your First Turn Can Decide The Game

A single play can turn the tide in Queen’s Blood, and the first turn can determine the future of the game. Many cards only affect one or two tiles at a time, but the best first turn affects at least two or even three tiles at once. The Chocobo And Moogle card down the center lane is a very powerful first move, as it gives extra pins along the top, bottom, and front.

When deciding your starting hand and what to Mulligan, be sure to aim for a card that affects at least three tiles and put it dead center. Even better, aim for a card that focuses on giving pins in multiple forward lanes to play aggressively and lock off the middle lane.

8Challenge The Right Rank

Play Against Enemies You Can Beat To Get Better

Every Queen’s Blood player will have a rank to determine how good they and their cards are at the game. Cloud also has a rank that will increase as he defeats more opponents, and a good rule of thumb is to first play opponents at or below your rank.

Every opponent defeated is a better card added to your inventory that can later be used against better opponents. While it is possible to beat opponents of a higher rank, it’s much more difficult and still only rewards a single card and one win on your rank placement.

7Have The Right Deck

Pick The Best 15 Cards You Have

Your deck can be edited anytime right before a game, even when retrying against an opponent. Some cards work better together than others, and some can even counter a go-to playstyle of an opponent you may be stuck on.

Be sure to mix and match your deck often to find new combos and powerful setups to win games. While it may seem like the best option to fill out your deck with legendary cards, you’ll also need weaker cards to add pins to the board and set up tiles for those legendary cards to be played.

6Cut Off Your Opponent

Place The Backline Tiles Later

While there are some cards that can skip over a tile, these are few and far between. One of the best methods to winning is to advance forward and leave your backline tiles open for the first few turns. As long as one of your cards is placed further up, those backline tiles will still be there waiting later in the game.

Think of placed cards as walls that cut off your opponent’s future in that lane. By moving forward in one lane and dropping a card farther up in a different lane, that new lane can slowly be taken over by your cards without needing to compete directly with your opponent’s cards.

5Don’t Win Every Lane

Points Win Games, Not Lanes

A game of Queen’s Blood is not determined by how many lanes are won but by how many points are earned. It is possible to win by capitalizing on a single lane and giving up the other two, only to bank 20 points from that one lane to win the game.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake: What Are The Whisperers

Whisperers keep appearing throughout Final Fantasy 7 Remake but don’t appear in the original game. Well, here’s all you need to know about them.

Trying to win all three lanes may seem like a sure way to win, but you will have your best cards stretched thin. On average, give up one lane and worry about only winning two, as that will allow a higher point return than just a few points in all three lanes.

4Mulligan Stronger Cards Early On

If You Can’t Use Them, Draw Them Later

After drawing your starting hand, players will be able to Mulligan (or get rid of) as many cards as they like. While it may seem fun to have your strongest legendary card in your hand, it will often be a good idea to get rid of that card and wait for it to come up later.

Some of the best cards will require two or three pins to place, and that requires weaker cards to take the board first to set up the right spot. Unless a legendary card only requires one pin, they should almost always be Mulligan’d and replaced for something better to start off the game with.

3Pay To Win

Buy The Best Cards You Can

While many cards will be earned by beating opponents, other cards can be purchased by collectors, in item shops, or traded for points at the Gold Saucer.Buyingpowerful cards or booster packs is an easy way to expand your deck and make it stronger.

Keep in mind this is only with in-game money, and better cards don’t always guarantee a win. When players reach the Gold Saucer, be sure to complete some games and earn points, as there are a few useful and legendary cards that can be traded for here.

2Buff Your Cards

Make Any Card Stronger

Lower-rank games of Queen’s Blood are usually determined by who is placed on more tiles of the board, while higher-rank games rely heavily on buffs. Buffs are special abilities on cards that increase the power of a card that is placed on the affected tile of the buff.

Buffs can quickly turn the tide of a game and be used to capitalize on a lane that is being won to earn even more points from it. There are even cards that further buff higher than usual, making even the weakest of cards the cause for a victory.

1Not Every Card Is Equal

Some Cards Have Higher Power & Better Abilities

Every card has a different power level, pin cost, and special ability. Not every card is equal, and many are just inherently better than others. To be the best Queen’s Blood player, your deck will need much better cards than the ones you start with.

Even the basic cardsplayers attempt to usein the first turn have better versions that should be found and used. Be sure to read and understand what special abilities cards have, as their placement may rely more on their ability than just their power.

The Whisperers hint that Final Fantasy 7 Remake may be more than just a reimagination of the original game’s story.
