Stone Tongue is one of those materials that can be put to better use after being obtained, but it’s not sitting out in the wild for anyone to pick up. In fact, it’s tethered to a Rank-A Notorious Mark. Here’s how to get Stone Tongue in Final Fantasy 16.
What Is Stone Tongue?
Stone Tongue is a crafting materialin Final Fantasy 16 that has alevel 4 rarityand is worth2500 gilat your local seller. Its primary use is to craft theOuroboros belt, which is worth getting for its high defense.
The in-game icon shows the Stone Tongue as a leaf-like design, brown in color and constructed by three, jagged stone layers.
Belonging to an archaeosaur, hiding behind its ‘diamond-hard, serrated teeth’, its granite tongue is a heavy-duty weapon on its own, and it’s this part of the creature that is so sought after within Valisthea.

How To Get Stone Tongue
The only way to obtain Stone Tongue in Final Fantasy 16 is byslaying the Rank-A Notorious Mark, Agni,and reaping the rewards its defeat brings.
Located in the Kingdom of Waloed,Agni is a level 40 creaturethat walks similar to an alligator but uses its rolling technique to pummel enemies similar tothe Jackapace monsterinThe Witcherseason 3.
Agni has been subjected to an aetherflood, which hasturned the beast Akashic, and therefore, increased its ferocity tenfold. Particularly around the head, you can see the creature glowing blue with aether.
Agni Location In Final Fantasy 16
In order to defeat Agni, you will first need to make sure theBrotherhood main quest has been triggered, and you have access to the Kingdom of Waloed via theFootfall in Ash main quest. This will make sure Agni appears onthe Hunt Boardvia Nektar back at The Hideaway.
Agni is located in Halfcombe within the Kingdom of Waloedand the fastest way to get there is by fast-traveling toThe Edge of Infinity Obeliskand thenheading northfollowing the natural lay of the land.
Upon arriving in Halfcombe, you will be able toenter a small arena, indicated by a circular area on the map, which will trigger Agni’s battle.
How To Defeat Agni
Like most boss battles or Notorious Mark encounters, Agni has a specific pattern that you need to entertain in order to learn the creature’s behavior and plan a counterattack before you get hit by its excessive weight.
The first attack you need to watch out for isCollider, which will see Agni roll up into a ball and proceed toroll towards you three timesand end with a body slam. All of these attacks can be avoidedthrough precision dodgesif you get your timing right. Dodging sideways is best for the rolls and dodging backward is best for the body slam, but using the Titanic Block is also an option.
Agni will then return to all fours and use the attack,Firewater, which sees a solid and steadybeam of fire erupt out its mouth for a few seconds, and getting caught in this wave is extremely detrimental to Clive’s health. Knowing Firewater will erupt after Collider will give you time to nestle in beside either of Agni’s front feet, allowing you to dodge the fire beam and get a few hits in while it’s being deployed. During Firewater, Agni will turn around slowly, so it’s important that you turn with the creature while staying at its side.
After defeating Agni, you will be rewarded with8000 EXP, 100 Ability Points, 15500 gil, and 35 Renown. You will also be able to pick up one Stone Tongue as the drop from the battle.

How To Use Stone Tongue
The only item you will be able to craft using Stone Tongue is theOuroboros belt, which is an essential defense item if you want to be at your most resilient going into battle, and it’s highly recommended to craft it.
The Ouroboros belt boasts95 Defense and 32 HPand carries the following description on its item tile: “So shall the end feed a new beginning” - “Having found this leather belt adorned with the ancient seal of the Devourer of Worlds, your search for the perfect waistwear is over. Or has it just begun?”
In order to craft the Ouroboros belt, you will need to make sure that theBlacksmith’s Blues III side quest has been completedby speaking to August at The Hideaway after the A Song of Hope main quest.
Additionally, you will also need to slay eitherthe Dread CometandAtlas,the Behemoth King,Gorgimera, or the deadliest mark,Svarog, in order to collect the additional items, a Comet Feather and an Orichalcum, in order to finish the belt.
