TheFinal Fantasyfranchise has a wealth of lovable protagonists, many of whom are amongSquare Enix’s best protagonists. In Final Fantasy 14, you get the chance to be one of them as a protector of Eorzea. However, whether you are experiencingFinal Fantasy 14’sHeavensward expansion for the first time, or replaying a nostalgic favoritevideo gameon a new character, it’s hard to feel unstoppable when you have to walk everywhere.
In Final Fantasy 14, flight is unlocked in each region separately. This can be done by collecting aether currents through questing and exploration. Each aether current can be located using the x and y coordinates displayed below your minimap, or the Aether Compass.

For those who have no interest in hunting organically for these aether currents, or who have become frustrated by a tricky one, here are all the aether currents in Heavensward and their exact location.

Tips For Finding Out Which Aether Current You Missed
Many players find some of the aether currents while playing through the story, only to get to the next zone and find out they missed a couple. If this is you, here are two ways to see which one you missed (without trekking around to every single location).
Use Your Aether Compass
You can use your handy aether compass to point you in the direction of any exploration aether currents you missed. This will quickly narrow down which location you need to travel to, as most zones have aether currents in drastically different locations on the map. Read more about using the aether compass in our article abouthow to unlock flying in Final Fantasy 14.
Use the Recommendations Window
One of the most underrated features in Final Fantasy 14 is the recommendations window. It’s very useful for checking to see if you’ve missed anything important in an area, such as a blue side quest.
To access the recommendations window:
Once the window is open, you can filter for quests using the dropdown menu at the top, or pin it to your screen with the lock button in the upper right-hand corner. It will show you any uncompleted task in the current area for which your equipped job is eligible.
Final Fantasy 14: Zodiac Weapon Guide
Upgrading your Zodiac weapons at the end of each Final Fantasy 14 expansion can be a time-consuming and confusing process.
Expect to be hunting for four exploration and five questing aether currents in each area of the Heavensward expansion. All questing aether currents are received from either the main scenario quest or a blue side quest. If you need a push to see which ones you are missing, consider using the Aether Compass or the Recommendations window.
