As of 2020,FGOnow reached its 5th anniversary. For the occasion, a new project,Under the Same Sky, is celebrating the 5th anniversary of Type-Moon’s gacha game.
Under the Same Skyis one of the multiple projects celebrating the anniversary. The projects goes like this: Local newspapers of each of the 47 prefectures in Japan are all publishingFGOillustrations in their upcoming issues. One of these illustrations has been set at Shibuya Station by Delight Works. Moreover, seeing the current state of emergency in Japan due to Covid-19, all illustrations will be posted online as well, on theFGO5th Anniversary page.
Under the Same Skywill continue in the future, as we only had the first wave of illustrations for now, made of 11 illustrations. Five wave of illustrations will be published in total. The next wave ofUnder the Same Skyillustrations will be published in local newspapers of the Tokai-Hokuriku region, and online, on May 25.
The 11 illustrations revealed so far are included in the gallery below. Each illustration features oneFGOServant in a certain prefecture and theme.
Fate/ Grand Orderis part of the Nasuverse and Type-Moon’sFatefranchise, which started in early 2000s.FGOis nowadays so popular that it eclipsed anything elseFate, such as the original PC gameFate/Stay Night.FGOis held in particularly high regard thanks to Nasu’s storytelling and the talented writers working on the game, most notably Hikaru Sakurai and Yuuichirou Higashide.
FGOis one of the most popular mobile games ever, and as of February 2019, it had generated since launch over 3 billions dollars of revenue worldwide. Multiple official anime, manga and game adaptations have launched as well.FGOis also one of the most popular game nowadays when it comes to fan-made content such as cosplay, fanart and doujin manga.
Type-Moon is currently also celebrating the15th anniversary of theFatefranchise as a whole,and a new cool artbook was also released.You can read all the details here. The artbook also includes an interview ofGeorge Kamitani,who recently directed and wrote13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Together with DualShockers, I’m also currently doing atranslated let’s play of13 Sentinels. Because of a huge lack of time on my part, the project is currently on hiatus, but I’ll try to get back to it as soon as I can.
