During the recentSilent Hilltransmission stream,Konamiannounced that “Silent Hill Ascension”, an interactive streaming series, is in development by Genvid Entertainment. The new series is slated to go live on multiple platforms in 2023. Silent Hill Ascension is shaping up to be a new experience known as ‘Massively Interactive Life Event’ (MILE), in which the players can directly influence the progression and future of the Silent Hill series.

MILE is a form of next-generation interactive entertainment in which viewers from all over the world interact and influence live video-based content in real-time to create a story. The series will put the whereabouts and fate of the characters in the hands of the audience as the story progresses, and participants from all over the world will experience together the fear of psychological horror, the true essence of Silent Hill.
Motoi Okamoto, Producer of Konami Digital Entertainmentsaidthat through MILE, an unprecedented interactive experience, they will be able to add new stages and characters to the Silent Hill series along with the fans, thus creating their own story together.Dusk Gamer, a popular industry insider, has also conducted a short interview with Jacob Navok, CEO of Genvid, to learn more concrete details about the nature of Ascension as a game.
Ascension is essentially a narrative branching-choice cloud streaming experiment that is going to be aired once as a miniseries. It is intended to be something along the vein ofThe Walking Dead: Last Mile, where players handled an avatar character that goes through puzzle-solving and survival scenarios. The voting of the community will be around these specific scenarios, but it will still have one canon in the end, just different outcomes for the characters and some story segments.
Genvid Entertainment will be partnering with J.J Abrams’s film and TV production subsidiary, Bad Robot, for art and sound design. The project will also include Dead by Daylight Studio Behavior Interactive and video-game-to-TV specialist production company DJ2 Entertainment. Ex-Telltale staff are also supposed to be on board, so fans can expect something similar to their previous titles.
