Superman director James Gunn revealed the first look at David Corenswet’s Superman suit, which was received by fans and audiences with mixed reactions. There were a lot of things in the suit that fans took issue with, chief among them the way it looked like it was made of the same material used to make suits in the MCU, which takes away from DC’s unique visual style.

Fans have widely criticised the way the suit looks, and even how the reveal photo depicts Superman. However, while some have been talking about the suit and how bad it looks, one fan has taken matters into their own hands, creating artwork for David Corenswet’s Superman in a new and improved outfit. The fan created what can essentially be termed as concept art for a new and improved suit.
Twitter is abuzz with the fan art of Superman making the rounds
While the suit revealed by DC Studios might have been less than satisfactory for fans, artists online have taken it upon themselves to fix the problems and criticisms that have been levied at the suit with their own creations and interpretation of what the suit should look like. One such artist on Twitter,@Spdrmnkyxxiii, was able to create a suit that kept aspects of the David Corenswet suit but was able to improve upon its presentation.

The artwork depicts a suit that is less matted and more vibrant, as is expected from a Superman costume. It keeps the lines, collar, and briefs that the official suit was criticized for, but manages to make them more palatable for fans and audiences, who very much like the way the suit presents itself.

DC already finds itself in a sea of trouble even before the DCU has taken off
While there has been some bogus criticism against DC, especially after the DCEU was shut down, the current iteration of a DC cinematic universe has not even seen the light before the fans have started ripping it to shreds. To begin with, there is a concern about the large cast that the Superman film boasts, and there are fears that the film will not focus on relevant characters, and will instead attempt to build a universe before telling a good story.

There is also the fact that a lot of fans are still salty about the way in which the DCEU was handled, and have since rallied behind actors and creators of the the bygone franchise (who have not vocalized any intent to try and revive it) in the hopes of getting that version of the cinematic universe back. These fans have also been extremely vocal with their discontent aboutJames Gunn‘s DCU and its pieces, nitpicking at every decision that the brass has taken with regard to the universe.
Supermanhits theatres on July 11th, 2025.
