Foxes have been hailed as some of the cutest animals of all time, with many people even undertaking the challenge of domesticating them and keeping them as pets. You need to look no further than the Zao Fox Village in Japan to understand why they are so celebrated.

In which case, it makes perfect sense that Gamefreak would choose these fluffy little critters as a template for some of their most popular Pokemon.

Silicobra Serperior Seviper Pokemon

Every Snake Pokemon, Ranked

There aren’t many snake-like Pokemon, but the ones we do have like Serperior and Steelix have their undeniable places in our parties.

Fox Pokemon come in all shapes and sizes, with varying types and strengths, but power doesn’t always determine popularity. When the dust settles, only one can be crowned King of the Vulpines.

Fox Pokemon Abra

Where Did It Go?

What? I hear you shout. Abra isn’t a fox! While it could be argued that Kadabra and Alazakam certainly aren’t foxes, as their eyes are now open, and they seem more humanoid, if you look closely at Abra’s physiology, he shares a lot of common traits found among the Pokemon later on in this list.

Abra is one of the first, andmost popular Psychic Pokemon, famous for being irritating to pin down and capture. Only knowing the move Teleport, Abra will disappear in the blink of an eye if you don’t capture him first. So get that Ultra Ball ready and keep your fingers crossed, because once he fully evolves, Alakazam is a force to be reckoned with!

Fox Pokemon Thievul

Keep Your Bags Close

Keep your belongings close at hand because this Pokemon looks ready to pinch your phone and scram! With striking red colours and a sleek black mask, this tricky fox is certainly one to be wary of.

Thievul is an early-route Generation 8 Pokemon, making it perfect for the beginning of any budding trainer’s journey. While he may be useful in the early game, Thievul will fall off throughout the course of your adventure. Equipped only with a single Dark type, and Special-Orintated stats that it struggles to take advantage of, Thievul was destined for the PC right from the get-go.

Fox Pokemon Nickit

Cute But Cruel

Nickit, the prior evolution to Thievul, deserves to be a spot higher on this list, due to its far more sneaky yet charming personality. Set with a looting bag tail, huge fluffy ears and four stylistic little boots, this tiny fox will make you go “Aww” before robbing you blind. Who can say no to those eyes?

In terms of foxes, Nickit probably comes closest in terms of what foxes are like in reality, and with a name like that, Nickit is fooling no one. Of course, being one of the most recent entries, and not being available in Scarlet and Violet, Nickit struggles to mark its spot in the public consciousness, despite its cuteness.

Fox Pokemon Fennekin

The Fiery Fennec Fox

This Generation 6 Fire-Type Starter Pokemon is an iconic first choice for many who fondly remember their short yet sweet journey through Pokemon X and Y. With those bright red eyes and huge puffy ears reminiscent of real Fennec Foxes, this Pokemon is perfect for anyone who wants to snuggle up and stay warm.

In addition, any avid Shiny Hunters will be more than pleased as Fennekin has a fantastic burnt-out grey colour scheme going on. The best shinies reflect the types and personalities of their Pokemon without going overboard, and Fennekin shines particularly brightly here.

Finally, anyone looking for an easier time getting through the early game of X and Y will be sure to pick Fennekin, as it offers a brilliant type advantage against the First Gym Leader Viola, who specialises in Bug Types!

Brains and Brawn

Delphox blazes ahead sporting a new Type and a magical set of powerful attacks. The pupil has now become the master, decked out with a fancy crimson robe and a wand that burns brightly. While Fennekin leans into the cute and cuddly archetype, Delphox stands tall, wise, and imposing.

In addition, this fiery fox is no slouch on the battlefield. Delphox has a huge Special Attack and Speed stat with brilliant type coverage for its Fire and Psychic attacks. But this Pokemon is no Glass Cannon because its Special Defence will allow it to stand up to any magical attacks.

Pokemon: 10 Best Gyms In The Series, Ranked

Gyms have become a staple of the Pokemon franchise, but which ones are the best?

Delphox also excels in the X and Y gym challenge, being strong against 4 of the trainers and 1 Elite 4 member. Even if Delphox doesn’t do it for you in the style department, it’ll win you over by burning your enemies into ash.

The OG Fire Fox

A fox list is impossible withoutthe most iconic fox Pokemonof them all. This famous fire fox enthrals with big brown eyes and 6 bushy tails. Also, this is an anime fan favourite, being one of Brocks’s ever-reliable Pokemon.

Those looking for a more enchanting adventure can play as Vulpix inPokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, for a heartwarming tale that will be sure to leave you in a flood of tears by the end.

And of course, who could forget its icy white Alolan cousin? If you thought Kantonian Vulpix was cute, then Alolan Vulpix may just melt your heart, or freeze it! With a soft white-blue color pallet and a new curly hairstyle that makes it look like it has come straight from a Kalos Barbershop, this Vulpix variant quickly became one of the most adored Regional Forms of all time.

Waving a Wicked Wand

Braixen is one of the few middle-stage Starter Evolutions that has more personality than its brethren. While it doesn’t have its psychic type just yet, this sassy witch certainly appeals with its cocky expression and calm demeanour.

With a wand in its tail, ears that seem to spout flame and white fluffy accents, Braixen radiates energy and wisdom. And it’ll be a perfect partner for anyone on their journey through Kalos too. In addition, its shiny form certainly doesn’t disappoint!

It seems that GameFreak has a soft spot for this teenage witch too, because it also got a place in the wildly underratedPokkén Tournament, where it was a fan-favourite fighter with a plethora of magical moves.

Which stone? I can’t decide!

Is Eevee a dog, a cat or a fox? Who knows? All I know is Eevee has earned its place as perhaps one of the most famous Pokemon of all time, next to Pikachu of course.Capable of transforming into 1 of 8 different Pokemon, this creature’s genetics are all over the place, making it the poster child of evolution.

Eevee is no disappointment in battle either. With the advent of Z moves in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Eevee got access to a particular stellar move in Extreme-Evoboost, a move capable of boosting all its stats by 2! Not only that, but Eevee gained an adorable Gigantamax Form in Sword and Shield and a Special Partner Variant in Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee.

Who knows what’s in store for Eevee down the road? It doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon. After all, there are 10 more types. Does that mean 10 more evolutions? Who’s to say?

Is it a bird? Is it a Plane?

Zoroark is without a doubt, the coolest of the Fox Pokemon, its original form emanating serious Shadow the Hedgehog vibes. With its lithe frame, red and black color scheme, and wild spiky hair, this dangerous Dark type is famous for tricking lost travelers with its signature Illusion ability.

Zoroark is fantastic in battle too. With huge Speed and Special Attack stats, it can make use of some seriously wicked attacks, like Night Daze, Sludge Bomb and even Flamethrower. When it was first announced in Zoroark, Master of Illusions, it had us all thinking it was a Legendary Pokemon.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: 10 Highest Special Attack Pokemon

From Glimmora to Miraidon, these are the Pokemon with the highest Special Attack stats in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

And if all that wasn’t enough, Zoroark got a brilliant new Form with Hisuian Zoroark, bringing us a previously unused type combination in Ghost and Normal. While it keeps the bright red accents, this new form is stark white, with wispy tendrils that look ready to ensnare and entrap.

Whichever Zoroark you choose to add to your team, you’ll have a battle-hardened warrior capable of dishing out some devastating damage.

2Ninetales

Don’t touch the Tail!

While Vulpix may be one of the most iconic Fox Pokemon, Ninetales may just have it beat. This elegant 9-tailed beast is straight from ancient folklore and capable of cursing anyone who grabs its tail for up to 1000 years. Anyone who has played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue is aware of its power.

Of course, this power is reflected pretty strongly in battle too. In Generation 5, Ninetales gained access to one of the most powerful abilities in the game with Drought, which sets Sunlight onto the field. While this was previously the signature ability of Groudon, now Ninetales was given new life and can be utilised by Sun teams to boost the power of fire moves and quicken the charging time of Solarbeam.

Not to mention, Ninetales got a stunning Alolan variant too! Alolan Ninetales is an Ice and Fairy Type and is the picture of elegance, with its powder blue look and long flowing hair. And it’s no weakling in a fight either, with its Snow Warning ability capable of setting Hail and its Aurora Veil move, perfect for protecting it in battle. This Pokemon can unleash powerful ice moves from behind a solid defensive barrier.
