We’re on Monday, and it’s already been a few hours since clocks hit past midnight in Japan, so trademark bots have been updated, and this June 11, 2025, it’s been most notably revealed that Square Enix trademarked “Engage Kill”. Meanwhile, Capcom trademarked 狩 “Shu”.

Every Mondays, trademark bots are updated with everything that was registered in Japan. It’s pretty easy to check even if you don’t speak Japanese as I do. Anyone can do it, as long as you don’t forget about it as I do.

Square Enix registersEngage Kill, predictions

Square EnixregisteredEngage Killon November 18, and it was made public on December 6. The trademark was filed under all the categories used for games. It could be a new project, a new IP, the possibilities are endless.

It’s also important to note that a trademark doesn’t necessarily something calledEngage Killis in development. And even if it is, there’s no guarantee it’ll get announced. Many projects never end up getting publicly announced before they’re canceled or refurbished into something else.

Moreover, “Engage Kill” could be the subtitle for a new game in an existing IP or series. LikeFinal Fantasy. Square Enix still never officially revealed the name ofFinal Fantasy VII Remake Part 2, and we only call it “Part 2” for SEO sake.

Anything trademarked by Square recently and these next few months could potentially be related toFinal Fantasy VII Remake part 2,like being the game’s subtitle. So it’s always fun to look at trademarks. I really doubt we’re gettingFinal Fantasy VII Remake Engage Killthough. If it’s a subtitle, it’ll probably be used for something else.

Meanwhile, Capcomtrademarked狩 which means “hunting” so it’s very likely related toMonster Hunter. The trademark was filed on November 24. Maybe it’s something related toMonster Hunter Rise Sunbreakwhich is scheduled to launch in Summer 2022. On Switch and Steam.

That’s all we have so far. What are your thoughts and predictions? You can always tell me in the comments or on Twitter@A_iyane07.
