What’s more noticeable, however, is how each Roger Pirate has helped Luffy in his journey, starting from Shanks, and anticipating the end of theOne Pieceworld.
The revelation that the world ofOne Piecewill sink by Vegapunk was a shock to everyone, including the readers. While it has something to do with the usage of the Ancient Weapons during the Great War and Imu’s destruction of various kingdoms, the Roger Pirates knew this would happen. The ones we’ve met so far have planned for it. Whether it’s living in a whale or keeping a non-Devil Fruit crew, it’s all been planned out for them. There hasn’t been one moment inOne Piecewith Buggy where he hasn’t just lucked out or a misunderstanding has caused him to greatly rise in power. He uses his former Roger Pirate status and brotherly affiliation with Shanks as a tool to get recognition, as seen in the Marineford Arc.
He allied with Mihawk and Crocodile but accidentally got the credit for theCross Guild’s operationswhich made him an Emperor of the Sea. He’s being guided by dumb luck that works out in his favor, unlike how the other former Roger Pirates have been meticulously preparing or helping other pirates for the end.

The intentions of the other Roger Pirates seem to be working towards surviving the sinking of the world. Rayleigh seems to have more noble intentions with his ship-coating business that helps other pirates go underwater. Shanks, on the other hand, is much more ambitious andaiming for the One Piece. We still don’t know Scopper Gaban’s role in the current events of the series but perhapsthe man will appear soon. That leaves Buggy and his place in the grand scheme of things.
The clown pirate was the Straw Hat Pirates’ first win as a team. His significance in the story has only grown but it doesn’t make his intentions any more clear. Despite his declaration to claim the One Piece, his crew seems the least prepared. The Emperor didn’t seem to know the world would sink. Will luck help him once again?

The world ofOne Piecerequires characters to put in the hard work and the power to survive. The will to become stronger was a huge plot point in the time skip period as each Straw Hat went away to get stronger. Even other characters seemed more determined.
