Where To Find The Formal Raiment

The easiest and most affordable method to acquire the necessary noble clothes is to steal it from the wealthy class. These kinds of clothes are a daily luxury to them after all. When in Vernworth, head to the Noble Quarter on the southern side of the city. Here, you’ll find a handful of large estates, each of which you can enter and loot.

Not every house will have what you are looking for, but they are worth exploring, especially if you are looking for ways to make gold quickly (hyperlink). To get both the Courtly Breeches and Courtly Tunic, head into one of these three estates: Controllers Home, Allard’s Estate, or Watchhead’s Home. Each of them will have both clothing pieces on the second floor in two separate bedrooms. You only need one set of Formal Raiment to enter the masquerade though, since your pawns cannot follow you into the castle grounds. So if you do end up getting all three sets, feel free to sell them.

Completing The Ornate Box Quest

The other, technically free option, of getting the Formal Raiment is to complete The Ornate Box quest for Sven. You’ll find him in the courtyard area of Vernworth, usually sitting on the fountain after your initial encounter with him running from the guards when you first enter the city.

Once you find him in the courtyard, he’ll ask to borrow 1000goldto buy an ornate box from a vendor. Lend him the money and he will pay you back over time. To get the money back, you’ll need to visit him over the course of several days, speaking to him once per day by the fountain. Once he gives you the last payment, he’ll also give you a set of Courtly Breeches and a Courtly Tunic. Although this method takes longer, it is definitely preferred to the third method we won’t go into detail about - buying the set from Philbert’s Sundries for 305,000 gold.
