Fight Preparation

Before you think about setting foot in the arena and facing the beast itself, it’s good to be prepared. This can be done in a number of ways to give you the best chance of success.

Attributes

Foremost, you’ll want to have a glance at you and your Wyrmling’s Attributes page. On PC, this can be done by pressing G and scrolling through to tabs 3 and 6.

Ideally, you will want your stats to be amultiple of 10, as after the first 10 stat points, you will gain several passivesdepending on which tree you decide to pick.

Dragonkin The Banished Symbiosis Hex

The trees are as follows:

For my first 10 points, I put everything into Courage, as the rewards for this tree gave me 3 different passives that increased my base damage.

The same can be said for your Wyrmling. It also has 4 different trees and skill points that can be added to a total.

Dragonkin The Banished Acid Spray

While your choice may be different here compared to your main character, remember that your pet can’t die like you. So pick wisely.

Ancestral Grid

In terms of the Ancestral Grid, you’ll want to try andachieve Symbiosisin any way possible. Take into account the elemental damage that your Wyrmling gives and then try and find 8 Hex Fragment modifiers that benefit your main attacking skill.

Arrange them so that the fragments touch the Character Skill and then, if done correctly, the skill should glow, and your fragments turn green. I didn’t know this going into the fight, so you’re one step ahead of me.

Don’t worry about taking all of your hex pieces out of the grid and trying to rearrange them. Different combinations can result in extra damage or bonus effects.

If possible, try and get hold of an ability that gives youextra energyduring the fight, for example, the Steel Sweep skill of the Barbarian. This allowed me to attack for extra energy whenever I fell low in the middle of battle.

Boss Fight Mechanics

The first great thing about this fight is that it takes place in a massive arena. This means you have plenty of space to move around and dodge his attacks.

In many ARPGs, they like toshove you into a little boxduring many boss fights, making it a pain to find open ground. This isn’t one of them.

Path of Exile 2: Hardest Act Two Bosses Ranked

For those about to enter Act 2 in Path of Exile II, this list will give you a heads-up as to what to look out for! These bosses are tough!

One of the most important things to note here, and perhaps something that could be a bit of an oversight from the developers, is that,if you stand at the edge of the arena, Jailanung can’t really do anything.

If you’re low on life or energy, simply run to the edge and wait for a potion restore, or sit back and plan your next move.

Description

How To Avoid

Ground Slam

You will see a large green ring spread out from beneath Jailanung, and then he will stomp the ground and cause a huge shockwave.

Try and dash away as soon as you see this green ring. It gives you a good amount of time.

Occasionally, bubbles of poison will appear in a close ring around him as a sort of defensive shield. Standing still in this pool will quickly deplete your health points.

This can happen after the Ground Slam so don’t run back in too quickly unless you know the coast is clear. Cycle back to avoid this damage, similar to the previous.

Poison Projectiles

A floating orb can spawn which shoots out poison in 4 directions. These directions are fixed. More orbs can spawn the lower HP he is on.

Try and get the orbs to overlap with each other so they aren’t as difficult to deal with. The orbs will create 4 quadrants of safety that you’re able to stand in if you don’t feel like running away. These orbs can be destroyed, but be careful as you may take big damage when doing so.

First, Jailanung will crawl around in a circle and then large green circles will appear on the ground. Within moments, huge poison blobs will fall into the green circles, leaving acid pools in their wake.

Simply avoid the green rings on the ground, even if it means that you can’t reach the boss. It’s better to be alive and wait for an opportunity to strike.

Toxic Breath

This is one of the scariest ones to look out for, and one that killed me for the first time. The dragon will rear up and spit out green poison in a straight line. If you’re caught unawares, this can easily kill you in one shot.

Quickly dodge to the side if you see Jailanung prepare this attack. Sometimes he will rotate slowly while shooting out poison, so circle him and prioritize your HP.

Difficulty

While it might be obvious to say, try not to die too much as you will lose a portion of your hitpoints each time you die.

If you end up losing a massive amount of total HP,you will need to return to the City to gain this back.Luckily, it’s not a huge amount.

Focus on getting your dodges right, work on your spacing, and eventually you should be able to clear this fight without taking much damage at all.

As with many action games, this fight is a bit easier as a ranged class, compared to melee, due to Jailanung’s close-range defensive attacks.

Of course, if you’re still struggling, you can always turn the difficulty downby returning to The Order’s Garrison in Montescail City.

Look for the White Knight symbol on the map.You can turn this back up once you get a bit more experience, or a better feel for the combat.

After studying his abilities and giving the fight a few attempts, you should be able to clear away this sickly green lizard with ease and proceed on with the story.
