BioWare Statement
BioWare has released a statement regarding the name change, confirming that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will now be known as Dragon Age: The Veilguard. It’s a singleplayer story with seven companions that we’ll get a first look at on June 11 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET. you may read BioWare’s full posthere.
It seems certain that Dragon Age will appear at one of the events this weekend. Whether the next instalment of BioWare’s beloved franchise appears at Summer Game Fest on Friday or Xbox’s Showcase on Sunday is currently open to speculation.

There’s been chatter among insiders thatDragon Age: Dreadwolf, as we knew it, might be undergoing a name change ahead of the event. This isn’t a first for the series, as Dragon Age 2 was originally known as Dragon Age: Exodus.
I Wonder Which Origins Companions Will Return In Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Which beloved characters could make an appearance in The Veilguard?
This rumour originated from Jeff Grubb (of GiantBomb) onKinda Funny Gamecast’s Xbox Showcaseprediction show. “I joke that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf won’t be there, and will be there,” Grubb says. “Dragon Age: Dreadwolf probably won’t be there, Dragon Age will be there if that makes sense. That’s as much as I’ll tease.”

Dragon Age 4?
This quickly led to speculation that a Dragon Age: Origins remake was on the cards. However, that would conflict with what BioWare has previously announced, a full reveal for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in summer 2024.
Then, Jason Schreier (of Bloomberg) took to ResetEra toclarify Grubb’s tease, saying “The rumour he’s alluding to is a name change for Dragon Age 4, not a different game.”

This is puzzling because Dreadwolf has been central to the marketing of Dragon Age 4 thus far, but perhaps BioWare wants to make it clear this is a sequel? Seems unnecessary considering the decade-long gap we’ve had since the release of Inquisition.
There’s also the matter of when we’ll be seeing Dragon Age 4. While many had assumed the reveal would come during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest show, Grubb seems to suggest that we’ll be seeing Dragon Age 4 at Xbox’s Showcase, instead.
There’s also the chance that the title appears at both shows, a teaser trailer at Summer Game Fest and then a gameplay deep dive at Xbox, perhaps? We’ll just have to wait and see how everything plays out in a couple of days.
