The developers ofDiablo 4have confirmed that the game has a decade’s worth of planned content in its roadmap and that the team is in it for the long haul, despitedips in the game’s contentsince launch.

The oldDiablogames keptplayers around for yearswith a single purchase, plus an expansion pack for those looking for extra content. Then,Diablo 3came along, and its infamous “Real Money Auction House” stained the series’ reputation forever. Luckily,Blizzardreigned things, but things were never quite the same.

Diablo 4 Season Of The Construct: How To Use Seneschal Companion

Diablo 4’s Season of the Construct features a fun new side-kick, the Seneschal Companion. Here’s how to optimize your build to become powerful.

Diablo 4 has taken a different tack, with regular paid expansions that offer content injections for players to enjoy. In an interview withGame File, Rod Fergusson, the General Manager of the Diablo Franchise, discussed what’s in store for the series further down the line.

Diablo 4’s 2025 roadmap

Diablo 4 Will Be Supported Until 2035

According to Fergusson, Diablo 5 has a 10-year roadmap of content planned. It has already been confirmed that a new expansion is coming in 2026, though it’s unclear if the game will receive these until the decade is up, and Blizzard starts gearing up for Diablo 5.

Fergusson’s comment has happened shortly after the reveal of the Diablo 4 2025 roadmap, which hasbeen blasted by fansfor being vague and not having much concrete content, despite the developers assurances that there is more on the way this year.

“We’re here for the long haul. We’ve been doing long-range planning recently. And I’ve created a roadmap—a 10-year roadmap…it was actually a 12-year [roadmap]—I can see this, this, this and this and all these different things that we can do, [which] is really inspiring. And it’s really exciting. We’re focused on what players want…I can’t tell you much more than that.”

There’s no denying that Diablo IV has an uphill battle ahead of it for players’ time. Not only isPath of Exile 2drawingplayers over into its audience, but it has to compete with the abundance of live service titles that are already available, ones without as much of a financial commitment for new content.

Luckily,Diablo IV is already a hit, and it has the might of Blizzard and Xbox Game Studios behind it, so it shouldn’t be going anywhere. It’s easy to think that there could be expansions all the way until 2035, possibly for the PlayStation 7 or Xbox Whatever ports of the game.
