The standout feature is the inclusion of legacy gear focusing. This will allow players to earn old gear items from retired seasons, with which they can transmogrify their current appearance. Considering Destiny 2 is approaching its 20th season, there is a lot of potential growth for this system, allowing newer players to display vintage looks. This move will eliminate a lot of fear of missing out inherent to the live service model Destiny 2 offers, and it may be appreciated by players who did not have the time previously to earn a particular piece of armor. This system comes in the wake ofchanges made to Blue Engramsand is consistent with Bungie’s seeming desire to make life easier for players and provide new avenues for progression and gameplay. Additionally, Ada-1 will now be selling three legacy armor shaders on a rotating basis at 10,000 Glimmer a pop.

The emphasis on legacy content will give players yet more things to do and items to work towards. Tying them together with current game progress may turn out to be the best move to encourage players to jump in, rather than dangling items in front of players for a limited time to encourage them to buy in and binge the game. This approach may prove to be healthier for the community and population figures of Destiny 2 in the long run. Such a change may help it save face with recent claims of players losing their character progress, and resultingserver downtime.

As the formerHalodeveloper’s past franchisestruggles amidst layoffsandleadership struggles, Bungie seems keen to provide for its current player base and is full steam ahead for Lightfall.
