If you’re a fan of the anime seriesDemon Slayer, you’re probably familiar with the Upper Moon Demons, the most powerful and fearsome of all Demons. And while every Upper Moon Demon poses a great threat to the Demon Slayers, Hantengu’s appearance might leave you scratching your head. With his meek and cowardly demeanor, you might wonder how he even made it to the Upper Moon rank, let alone be a challenge for the Demon Slayers. But don’t let his appearance fool you because Hantengu is hiding a terrifying secret.

In season 3, episode 3 of Demon Slayer, we finally get a glimpse of Hantengu’s true strength. When his head is severed, his body and head split into multiple Demons, each with its own unique personality and powers.These Demons are manifestations of Hantengu’s emotions, and they pose a threat to the Demon Slayers like never before. As fans eagerly anticipate the next episodes, they’re left wondering about the different personalities of Hantengu and how they could potentially turn the tide of battle against the Demon Slayers. In this article, we’re going to take a deep dive into the world of Hantengu and explore his various personalities, revealing the true extent of his power and the challenges that await our beloved Demon Slayers.
When Hantengu was first severed by Muichiro Tokito, the first two personalities that emerged were Sekido and Karaku.Sekido is the manifestation of Hantengu’s anger, and he wears a long, red, and black kimono with a yellow wave-like design, complete with two horns on his head and fiery red eyes. His appearance alone is enough to strike fear into the hearts of even the bravest Demon Slayers. But it’s not just his appearance that makes him dangerous. Sekido wields a powerful staff calledKhakkhara, which is inspired by Buddhist culture and can create bolts of electricity when thumped on the ground. When Tanjiro and Nezuko faced him, they were on the verge of passing out from his intense attacks, but they were saved by the intervention of Genya.
Despite being one of Hantengu’s manifestations,Sekido is not a team player. He is rude to both the Demon Slayers and his fellow Demons, showing that he is always angry and ready to lash out. It remains to be seen how Sekido’s personality will play out in future episodes of Demon Slayer, but one thing is clear: he is not to be underestimated.
While Sekido represents the explosive anger of Hantengu, Karaku is the polar opposite - amanifestation of Hantengu’s relaxed and carefree nature. With his easygoing demeanor and friendly attitude towards other Demons, Karaku is the type of Demon who could easily disarm his opponents with his laid-back approach. When he faced off against Muichiro, he wielded a unique weapon with a maple leaf-like design in orange and green colors. Despite the gentle wave of his weapon,Karaku was able to blow Muichiro miles away with ease.
In terms of appearance, Karaku wears a black hakama and black sash with white stripes and white flower-like designs. His eyes are a striking green color, and the area surrounding his forehead and eyes has a purplish hue, giving the impression that he is rotting away. With his relaxed attitude and powerful abilities, he could prove to be a formidable opponent despite his seemingly carefree demeanor.
As the battle against Hantengu continued, the next two personalities that emerged from his decapitated body were Aizetsu and Urogi.Aizetsu represents Hantengu’s sorrow and melancholy, always carrying a serious and calm expression and never leaving a chance to berate his opponents. In a shocking turn of events, he was the one who ended up stabbing Genya with his spear-like weapon, showcasing the true strength of the personalities that emerged from Hantengu’s body.
Aizetsu’s appearance is reminiscent of a ninja, with completely black clothes and a mysterious accessory on his shoulder, which has yet to be revealed. The color of his eyes is a striking blue, with the title of Upper-Rank Four etched into them, hinting at his powerful status among the Demons. Despite his serious demeanor, Aizetsu’s personality and nature could easily strike fear into the hearts of those who face him.
Tanjiro watched Aizetsu emerge from the severed head, but then he realized that one of the bodies was missing, and that’s when the new Demon, Urogi, took hold of Tanjiro and took him into the sky. As amanifestation of Hantengu’s joy(which is as rare as a unicorn,) Urogi is kind of similar to Sekido, enjoying the battle and always in a cheerful mood. He looks similar to other manifestations, except that he has a set of two large wings, which give him the ability to fly.
He is capable enough to carry a large human like Tanjiro into the air with ease. Urogi can make a powerful sound, which was powerful enough to make Tanjiro bleed from his ear and mouth. The color of his eyes is yellow, with Upper-Rank Four engraved inside.
Zohakuten And Urami
As of writing this article, we have been introduced to the four above-mentioned personalities of Hantengu, but there are two more, Zohakuten and Urami, which will be revealed in the upcoming episodes. We are yet to know what these remaining two Demons have to offer, but it’s obvious that they are going to give a hard time to Demon Slayers. WhileZohakuten is the manifestation of Hantengu’s hatred,Urami brings out his resentment. So far, all four personalities we have seen are more or less the same in looks; however,Zohakuten looks like a kid, while Urami looks exactly like Hantengu’s original form.
