During an interview, Craig opened up about playing a character created by famous author William S. Burroughs. At the same time, Craig talked about the film’s themes and why it would have been difficult for him to make such a movie when he was at the peak of his prowess as James Bond. In an interview withThe Times, Craig spoke about working on a film with LGBTQ+ themes and admitted that it would’ve been difficult for him to accept such a role during his time as Bond. Craig stated:

I couldn’t have done this while doing Bond. It would look reactionary like I was showing my range.
