Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legendis a compilation of three games:
We’ve gotThe Final Fantasy Legend, which was titledMakai Toushi SaGain Japan and first released 1989. Next we haveFinal Fantasy Legend II, first released in 1990 asSaGa 2: Hihou Densetsu. Lastly, there’sFinal Fantasy Legend III, first released in 1991, under the titleSaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha.
All three games were launched on Game Boy. All three games also actually did release in USA back then. TheFinal Fantasy Legendgames were the very first games of theSaGaSeries. If you’re into theMana Series, it’s similar with how both series initially started assiblings ofFinal Fantasyat Square. Before becoming their own separate series.
All three games are typical JRPGs with a turn-based battle system, towns, dungeons, and monsters, all in a fantasy-inspired setting. It’s important to note a turbo mode is included in the collection. Something I really wish was also added to the Remasters ofRomancing SaGa 2and3to make these masterpieces easier to go through.
The first two games were handled bySaGaSeries main creator Akitoshi Kawazu, and feature music by Nobuo Uematsu. The second game also has Kenji Ito as its composer, and he later became the main composer of the series. The third game was handled by Chihiro Fujioka, who also did some of the BGMs alongside Ryuji Sasai.
This collection is part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of theSaGa Series, like the western release ofRomancing SaGa Re;univerSe.SaGaProducer Masanori Ichikawarecently spoke with DualShockersand had hinted more projects would be coming to raise awareness of theSaGa Seriesin the west.
