Legendary Japanese Game Developer Wants to Revive This Cancelled Xbox Game

Hideki Kamiya hasn’t given up on Scalebound just yet.

While Kamiya is excited to return to the world of Okami, he wants everyone to know that his new studio isn’t solely focusing on existing IPs and franchises.

In a recent interview withGameSparkmagazine, he talked about Clovers' philosophy of making games. “We don’t close all possibilities when it comes to making games,” he said. “When we want to release an interesting game as a company, it might be interesting to make a sequel to a series, not just a new IP, or we might make a spiritual successor to something that we think is interesting. Basically, I don’t think there is any limit to the way we approach our policy of creating interesting games.”

Clovers Studio Is Only Working on One Project: The Okami Sequel

With Clovers focusing on just one project, Kamiya wants to ensure people know that they aren’t locked into working on already established franchises. He and the team are simply working on a project that happens to be a sequel.

Right now, we only have one project that we’re working on, and it just so happens to be an IP that I was involved with in the past, so I think it’s inevitable that this impression is strong. In fact, people are paying attention to us because of those expectations, so I’m grateful for that, but I want to reiterate that just because this is our first project, it doesn’t mean that this is everything to us as a company.
