Dragon’s Dogma 2is still a couple weeks away from launch, but Capcom has already released a free app (available on Steam at this link) that you can use to design your own Arisen and Pawns (up to five of each) that will be playable once the game makes its official debut.
While the originalDragon’s Dogmais most revered for its epic boss fights, many of which let you use your weapons to climb your way up the massive beasts, the free character creator app is showing that its sequel may have another feather to add to its cap, based on some exciting designs we’re seeing.

This March release will fill the RPG-shaped hole in my heart.
From Baldur’s Gate To Gransys
One image in particular that seems to be getting a lot of potential Dragon’s Dogma 2 players excited is this one, posted on Reddit by user killingjoke619. Rather than just building their own fantasy character, this Baldur’s Gate 3 fan used the character creator to try to recreateeveryone’s favorite Githyanki fighter, Lae’zel, and the results are a stunningly similar character.
This is of particular significance because it’s highly unlikely that Dragon’s Dogma 2’s developers intended for the Githyanki — an astral plane-dwelling species from Dungeons & Dragons lore with highly recognizable physical features — to be a playable race. While multiple playable races are expected, only humans and the the new, feline-like Beastren have been confirmed for Arisen characters, while elves are still expected to be included as Pawns.

Still, the details on this recreation of Lae’zel are remarkably accurate, from the upturned nose to the skin tone and markings to the andle of her ears.

Revving Up The Launch Hype Engine
Releasing the character creatorwell in advance of the actual gamewas a brilliant move byCAPCOM. Not only does it increase the convenience factor, letting players jump straight into the game without having to take time designing their characters when the game launches on March 22, but the level of detail that the character creator allows also makes great advertising for the game.
By all accounts, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is on track to be a huge upgrade over the original.

While the original Dragon’s Dogma was met with mixed reviews when it launched in 2012 and had a lot of detractors, the sequel seems to be shaping up to be one of this year’s hottest RPGs.Originally announced back in 2020, Dragon’s Dogma 2 looks like it will be following several themes of the original, such as the Arisen’s quest to slay a dragon and drawing assistance from a variety of AI-controlled pawns. However, it’s also set to include a number of new features, such as hybrid vocation (which serve as character classes), an open world that’s four times larger than the original’s, and an original, politically-fueled story about a conflict between two nations.
Granted, not all of the character creations being put out there are as accurate as others — just check outthis monstrosity that was supposed to be a Pikachu— but by all accounts, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is on track to be a huge upgrade over the original.
