Chaos;Head Noah’s release has been in a sensitive zone for the last few days thanks to Valve’s decision to reject the visual novel from releasing onSteam. The decision has since been retracted following anactive fan campaign, and the game will now be releasing as originally intended on Steam on October 7th.
According to Spike Chunsoft’sreport, the publisher of the game, the original content review team at Valve re-examined their decision to ban the game and decided to completely reverse it. In addition to that, Valve has made some changes to its review process to avoid anything like this happening again, but the changes were not mentioned in detail.
In the developer’s statement, they claim a representative from Valve told them, “Valve’s content review team, the group that made the original decision, has re-examinedCHAOS;HEAD NOAHand decided to reverse course and allow the game to ship on Steam, as is”. Valve goes on to state that they have “examined the process that led to the previous decision aboutCHAOS;HEAD NOAH, and made some changes to avoid situations like this in the future”.

The review process at Valve has always been anissuefor developers, and there is no clear-cut way to know if the game will get accepted or rejected. This however, isn’t the only issue facing the game as the moment, as the fan translation group Committee of Zero, which are known for their translation reworks to the official releases, havespokenabout the inadequacy of the translation.
Chaos;Head Noah is a game that is heavily rooted in the internet culture of the early 2000s in Japan, making the use of slangs and other specific outdated words extremely prevalent. That part wasn’t properly communicated in the official release, and other mistranslation problems like it have arisen according to an extensive threadpublishedby the aforementioned team.
As it currently stands, Chaos;Head Noah will now be available on Steam, but fans advise waiting for the translation patch that will fix these issues, as were the case with most titles related to the Science Adventure franchise. Other fan campaigns are also now in the works to speak about games that got mishandled and rejected by Valve’s approval process, such asFull Metal Daemon Muramasa, which was banned before for similar ambiguous reasons.
Chaos;Head Noah is now available to purchase on Steam.
