Season 1 of Black Ops 6 and Warzone is officially live for Call of Duty players, and something seems missing.
Warzone players found a riot shield-shaped hole in the list of armaments they expected to find. As a quick glance at social media reactions will tell you, there was much rejoicing.

In a game about quick reflexes and putting shots into targets, having the “remove opponent” button suddenly not do that was… frustrating, for some. Others quite enjoyed the staying power brought by the riot shield, but it seems the developers at Treyarch may have had other plans.
That being said, the riot shield isn’t just missing from the game; it’s also missing from theofficial patch notes—typically, removals of expected content are listed here.

As discussed onGameSpot, it’s possible that the riot shield was simply forgotten rather than consciously removed. It could find its way back into the Call of Duty experience.
Bug Causes Wheelchair-Using Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Character To Stand Up
A bug in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 performs a neat little miracle on a man in a wheelchair.
But if you’re feeling mildly conspiratorial, this absence could, itself, be a conscious decision. It would give the developers a chance to say, “Oops, we forgot,” if their shield-busting operation wasn’t received as well as they hoped.

Regardless of what may or may not have been forgotten,Modern Warfare 2’s riot shield is not in Call of Duty: Warzone right now.
What Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 Actually Changed
With this new update, the game has ballooned toa staggering 90GBin file size, and item deletion doesn’t quite account for all that.
What makes the difference is a whole new map inspired by Nuketown - just at the larger scale Warzone demands.

This map, Area 99, comes along with two returning maps - Urzikstan and Rebirth Island.
There are four returning game modes, a new progression system, weapon skins, and movement updates to better match Black Ops 6—it’s no small thing.

Since the update only recently arrived, players are still exploring the new content. They’re free to bask - or despair - in this riot-shield-free world. One that may exist for a while, assuming its removal was no accident.
