A newblog postbyActivisionhas detailed everything fans need to know in preparation for the launch ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2later this month, including the release date for Special Ops and Raids.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will officially release on October 28th, but it’s never just that simple when it comes to Call of Duty. Between the launch of the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign, Multiplayer, Warzone 2.0, Special Ops, DMZ, and Raids, there’s new content coming every month for the rest of the year.
It all starts withCampaign Early Access, which is exclusively available for digital pre-orders from October 20th.The full launch of Modern Warfare 2 arrives on October 28th, which includes Multiplayer and Special Ops. November 15th will then mark the launch of Warzone 2.0 and DMZ with Modern Warfare 2 Season 1. Finally, on December 14th, the mid-season update will be deployed along with the very first episode of Special Ops Raids.

Although Special Ops has featured in previous Call of Duty titles, this will be the first time that fans get to experience Raids. Initially, three Special Ops missions will be available in Modern Warfare 2, and Activision has said that they “highly recommend” completing all three missions with three stars and have at least one kit leveled up to Tier 5 before jumping into Raids on December 14th.
A previousblog postby the Call of Duty team stated that Raids are a brand new game mode “involving strategic thinking, puzzle-solving and most importantly bouts of intense co-op combat action”. The mode will be a three-player cooperative experience which requires teamwork and strategic thinking in-between bouts of intense combat.
Before jumping into Raids, players are recommended to complete the three Special Ops missions:
