The XM4 is the perfect starter assault rifle inBlack Ops 6. It’s easy to control, has manageable recoil, and it’s available from the start.

The issue is that it can feel like your bullets are marshmallows compared to other weapons. Fortunately, we can mitigate this with a decent build.

Best XM4 attachments in Black Ops 6

The XM4 is a fantastic assault rifle and feels prettygood right out of the box. That said, it absolutely benefits from the right attachments.

I’ll explain my reasoning below, but here’s a table if you just want the attachment list. The three attachments at the bottom are optional, assuming you use theGunfighter Wildcard.

Blue Perks selection Black Ops 6

Attachment Type

Kepler Microflex

Suppressor

Long Barrel

Extended Mag I

Recoil Springs

Underbarrel

Vertical Foregrip (Gunfighter Only)

Quickdraw Grip (Gunfighter Only)

Combat Stock (Gunfighter Only)

You can use whichever Optic you like, but theKepler Microflexoffers a wide picture with a thin frame.

TheSuppressorkeeps us off the minimap for easier flanking, and theExtended Mag Iincreases our magazine size from 30 to 45, which is excellent for multiple targets.

XM4 perks Black Ops 6

TheLong Barrelincreases the XM4’s range and should stop the gun from feeling weak against distant targets.

Finally,Recoil Springs are becoming an early favoriteat high-level play. The recoil reduction works in every direction, which is great as the XM4 has some horizontal wobble to manage.

Our remaining attachments improve general weapon handling if you’re rocking the Gunfighter Wildcard. TheQuickdraw Gripimproves ADS speed, and theVertical Foregripmutes the vertical kick even further.

Finally, theCombat Stockincreases movement speed while aiming, which makes you harder to hit.

Recommend Perks for the XM4 in Black Ops 6

There’s no wrong answer regarding Perks in BO6, although the Specialty system pushes us into picking the same color for rewards.

We’re going with aselection of blue Perksbecause the Recon bonus is too good to pass up. Recon has already been nerfed once, but it’s still ridiculously strong, particularly on small maps.

Perk/Specialty

Description

Undetectable by UAVs and Scout Pulses

See enemy footsteps, and ADS auto-pings enemies. Auto-pings have a cooldown.

Immune to CUAV, Scrambler, and Sleeper Agent. Displays a HUD icon when detected on mini maps.

Specialty: Recon

Briefly see through walls on spawn. HUD indicator when an enemy is outside your view.

Perks can dictate your playstyle, so feel free to mix these up. Keep in mind that Perks in multiplayer are quitedifferent to ones in Zombies.

These are personal preferences, but I swear by this selection, and it can be used anywhere.

Brief health regeneration and refreshes Tactical Sprint

Sticky Grenade with preset fuse

Field Upgrade: Spring Mine

Deployable mine with proximity detonation.

The Stim Shot is an incredible Tactical, allowing you tostay in fights longer. It’s also a fantastic counter to any aggressive players who may push after landing a few bullets.

Semtex is a “no fuss” Lethal that will always net you a few kills each round.I prefer Frag Grenades in Objective modes, but there’s no wrong choice here.

Finally, we’re rocking theSpring Mineas our Field Upgrade. Call them cheap if you must, but Spring Mines are great to plant around capture points. You can even fling them behind doors for some cheeky kills.

It is either the last good Call of Duty made, or the first of a new era with good titles again.
