Thank you, Accolade.
You may be wondering why I didn’t report on this announcement yesterday, but that is because I’ve spent all night hyperventilating over this announcement.
So, as some of you may know, I’m theBubsyguy around these parts. That’s why I am proud to tell you all that a newBubsygame has been announced one year after the launch ofBubsy: The Woolies Strike Back. The title in question isBubsy: Paws on Fire, an auto-runner from Bit.Trip developers Choice Provisions for PC, PS4, and (finally!) Nintendo Switch.
Like Choice Provisions’ most recent releaseRunner3,Bubsy: Paws on Fireis an auto-runner spread across 100 different levels. While this is much different than anyBubsygame before it, Choice Provisions seems keen onactually making it a good game. They even went as far as the make the following jab a the franchise alongside the game’s announcement:
“After some productive meetings and even more productive threats we agreed to work withBubsyon creating an auto-runner worthy of his stature. And when that was done we scrapped it and made a good game instead.”
Blasphemous, have they playedBubsy 3D? In all seriousness,Bubsy: Paws on Firedoes actually look like it has some passion behind it. Outside of the aforementioned level count, the game features three boss battles, tons of collectibles, unlockable costumes, and four playable characters. The developers are also digging deep into theintenseBubsyloreforBubsy: Paws on Fire’sstory and characters.
In addition to Bubsy and a Woolie, Virgil Reality from thecanceled (but glorious) pilot, and Arnold fromBubsy 2and that pilot are playable characters. The developers are also promising the return of characters like brothers Terry and Terri as well as villain Oinker P. Hammm, soBubsy: Paws on Fireshould be delightful in that aspect forBubsyconnoisseurs like myself.
That being said, you probably want to see the game in action, so you’re able to check out the announcement trailer and first screenshots of the game below. The wait forBubsy: Paws on Firewon’t be too long and excruciating either, as it will be hitting PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch sometime during Q1 2019. Now don’t mind me as I pace impatiently waiting for the game over the next couple of months.
