For many this was a big change to how they played their characters, forcing them to learn a new play style. Much like the Souls series, this game offer Caryll Runesinstead of ringsto buff your character. Here are the best 10 runes you need to find.
The gun in Bloodborne is a different take from guns in other games. It is many used to wait for the perfect moment to shoot an enemy and stun them for a critical hit, or visceral hit.

While the Heir rune is equipped, any enemy that is hit with a visceral hit will drop extra blood echos. Visceral attacks are integral to the game, as many enemies and bosses are able to be stunned with the gun. As many enemies can be visceral hit, the additional blood echos quickly add up.
9Oedon Writhe
The biggest handicap to visceral hits is having enough bullets. You are able to carry a maximum of twenty quicksilver bullets, and between lanterns more can be picked up by enemy drops or item spawns.

Odeon Writhe gives the player a quicksilver bullet back from a successful visceral attack. This allows players to continue to attempt more visceral attacks without having to hunt for bullets or return to their storage chest in the Hunter’s Dream.
8Blood Rapture
Bloodborne gives players a new way to regenerate health, in the form of items or earning it back quickly after losing it by attacking enemies. Combat in Bloodborne is fast past, and stepping back to heal isn’t always a viable option.
With this rune, your health is restored using visceral attacks. Players are already encouraged to be more aggressive in combat to regenerate health, and this rune further builds off of that with a higher amount earned even after the health is fully gone.

7Anti Clockwise Metamorphosis
Bloodborne’s quick combat leaves you little time to breathe, and death is quick to follow if you run out of stamina. While equipped, the Anti-Clockwise Metamorphosis rune increases your max stamina by about 10%.
This rune increases based on a percentage of your current stamina, meaning it will grow exponentially as you level up your endurance. This is a great rune for any build, as all builds need a high percentage just to stay alive.

6Formless Oedon
With so many enemies and bosses being susceptible to gunshot stuns, having enough bullets for a fight is a necessity. Getting the timing right on a shot can be difficult, and missing a shot leaves your enemy with only minuscule damage.
With the Formless Oedon, you’re able to carry more than the usual twenty bullets at a time. This gives you more attempts in adifficult boss fightor a larger supply for a long journey through Yharnam.

Yharnam’s hunters wear light beast resistance armor with a focus on avoiding a hit that worries about its damage. The only shield in the game does little to actually defend you, and most armor still only absorbs a small percentage of damage.
The Lake run increases your overall damage absorption on top of your armors' bonus. Some armors offer substantial damage, but most bosses are still able to quickly wipe out a health bar. The added absorption of this rune can greatly increase your survivability should you miss time at a dodge and get caught in a beast’s claws.

With healing now being from a tangible item, you can run out of, finding more is crucial to individual areas and the game as a whole. Bullets are also necessary for distance pokes and interrupting and attack to stun an enemy, but this can also run out.

While both of these are dropped by enemies, having the Eye run makes this happen much more often. This rune increases all item discovery, but these two items alone can greatly benefit you in a time of need. Other great items are dropped from enemies, and all are easier to come by with this rune equipped.
Increasing your maximum stamina is one way to be prepared for drawn-out combos, but waiting for it to regenerate can leave you just as susceptible to attacks. With this rune equipped, your stamina recovery is increased by about 10%.
This rune is perfect no matter how high your endurance is. A quicker burst of stamina can be all you need to get one more attack or dodge off to get out of a situation. If you have much higher stamina this will make your total recovery time much quicker.
2Communion
Being limited in your healing is a recurring issue in every Soulsborne game. In Bloodborne, you’re able to carry twenty blood vials from the start, which may seem like a lot until you realize how much damage enemies can inflict.
This rune increases your total carrying capacity of blood vials beyond twenty. While the increase is only between 1-5 depending on the level of this rune you use, even one more vial can keep you alive just a little longer in a boss fight.
The moon rune is by far the best and most needed rune you’re able to find in this game. Increasing your blood echos acquired for every enemy means an exponential bonus to the total echos gained throughout the game.
Echos are used to level up, and getting more allows you to level up your character quicker for a lasting bonus. Echos are also used to buy healing vials and bullets, and upgrade your gear, all of which arevital to this gameand all require a lot of blood echos.
