Looking at The Penguin in cotrast with Collin Farrell already shows the amount of the time that the actor probably spent in the makeup chair. Acccording to sources, it took almost three hours for the actor to put on make up, and about forty-five minutes to take it down. However, there was one actor who had it worse on another production.

Robert Eggers, who directedThe Northman,The Lighthouse, andThe Witch, will be helming a remake of the 1922 German film, based on Bram Stroker’sDracula,Nosferatu. The film has a stacked cast with some of Hollywood’s most popular, such as Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Bill Skarsgård, will be essaying the role of Count Orlock.
Bill Skarsgård too a whopping six hours to put on his Nosferatu makeup
Robert Eggersrevealed toDeadlinethat there were some aspects ofBill Skarsgårdmake up that required upwards of six hours to apply. With this harrowingly long time to put on the make up, one can only assume how Skarsgård managed to keep his long wark days productive. Eggers said:
When Bill first saw the bust [of his character], he was like, ‘This guy didn’t look like me when he was alive.’ And he was pretty intimidated. But as soon as he put it on, I saw the moment when he was inspired by the makeup and knew that he could do something with it.

The make up for the character was quite extensive, even more so than his Pennywise make up, which took a whopping, but coparitively minuscule, two and a half hours to put on. Count Orlock, more colloquially known as Nosferatu, was one of the first vampires to appear in film, becoming synonymous with the genre and codifying the gothic aesthetics of the films.
Guillermo Del Toro is all priases for Rober Eggers’Nosferatu
In a special screening forNosferatu, Eggers was able to share his thoughts about the film with horror iconGuillermo Del Toro, who is hard at work on his own horror film based on a Universal Monster,Frankestein.

The film stars Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s Monster and Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankestein. The director was very pleased with what Eggers had shown him, congratulating him on the film. He said:
Every time you come out with a new movie, I’m extremely eager to watch it, because I know I’m going to see something, a confection, with great passion, great care, and more than anything else, a unique and incredibly vibrant voice in film, and I thank you for that.

Frankensteinwill be a film that will premiere on Netflix, as opposed toNosferatu, which will be getting a theatrical release before making it to any streaming service, though there has been no updated on the latter. While audiences will be treated to Eggers’ film later this year, Del Toro’s NetflixFrankensteinfilm is expected to release next year.
Nosferatuwill hit theatres on August 02, 2025.
