In the world of comic books and their cross-media adaptations, DC’s Batman reigns supreme as one of the most fan-followed characters ever. The Caped Crusader has been around for decades. Throughout these years, there have been several iterations of him, portraying him sometimes as a benevolent superhero and other times as a darker and more evil incarnation.

And this is something thatBatman: Caped Crusadernails while Zack Snyder fails to do with Ben Affleck.
Batman: Caped CrusaderDoes a Better Job Than Zack Snyder
DC’s enigmatic superhero, Batman, has received a new TV adaptation in the form of Amazon Prime’sBatman: Caped Crusader. An animated TV show that was released just days ago, the noir-inspired series draws light on a young Bruce Wayne and his early years of being a masked crusader in the city of Gotham.

With its first season having 10 episodes in total, the series has already become a favorite of many and has an impressive 98% rating onRotten Tomatoes. Part ofits appeal is its brilliant portrayal of the character, which remains largely faithful to his comic book personality.
While the character is a nuanced and capable superhero, he is also compassionate and kind-hearted, just like he is supposed to be in the comic books. And this characteristic of his has fans swooning over him, applauding the series for not forgetting who Bruce Wayne/Batman really is.

Batman refusing to leave Natalia alone to die reminded me so much of Batman staying with Ace and it was everything..this is pure Batman when he’s shown being a hopeful compassionate hero 🥲❤️#BatmanCapedCrusaderpic.twitter.com/0hRgeVZFWU

A stark contrast toBen Affleck‘s Batman in theZack Snydermovies,Batman: Caped Crusadernailed the one aspect of his persona that Snyder failed to accomplish. While Affleck’s casting has remained controversial, even more controversial is how the character deviates from the traditional Batman persona.
Darker, more violent, and more willing to kill than previous on-screen adaptations, fans have often found Affleck’s version alienating and unconvincing.

Fans React toBatman: Caped Crusader‘s Compassionate Batman
Ben Affleck’s Batman in Zack Snyder’s DCEUhas received mixed reviews and criticismover a lot of things, but his being more violent than other versions has always drawn the most dissatisfaction from fans. Even the movies have faced backlash over their dark tone and grim storytelling, making Affleck and Snyder’s collaboration more ‘unlikeable’.

In sharp contrast to this,Batman: Caped Crusaderoffers a fresh perspective on the Dark Knight mythos, presenting a superhero who is very similar to his iconic comic boom personality. So after Batman’s compassionate characteristics went viral, this is what fans said about the show:

I agree! I didn’t like everything about this show, but they nailed this moment! Batman is compassionate

This is my Batman, Gotham’s hero and hope. This is what I want Batman to be in the DCU

I line that more episodes go on, Batman is lees about revenge and more about taking care of the people, I feel bad for both of them, Natalia and her brother, Aton, he was looking out for her and she has a medical condition that does this stuff
— Raven (she/they) (@CrystalWitchy1)June 07, 2025
I’m just glad they didn’t forget that Batman is suppose to be compassionate at well. I have my nitro picks with this series but that was undeniably Batman.

As the series gains traction and attention for its fresh and exciting storytelling, James Gunn should probably take notes of fans’ demands so that he can escape the fate that led to the downfall of Zack Snyder’s DCEU films. While the recent Amazon Prime series is definitely not the last to be made about the caped crusader, we hope that in future projects, Batman stays true to his comic book personality which fans love the most.
Batman: Caped Crusaderis now streaming on Amazon Prime.
