After his cameo inThe Batman,Barry Keoghanis reportedly in talks with the studio to reprise his role as the Joker in a new series. According to theMarvelvisionpodcast,

Apparently, Warner Bros. has been chatting with Barry Keoghan about his return to ‘The Batman’ franchise, and my understanding is that — I don’t know if he’s in [‘The Batman: Part II’] or not, but he’s the main villain of [‘The Batman: Part III’]. And the reason why they’re having a real talk about it is because the plan is to do a Joker-oriented series that connects ‘II’ and ‘III’ the way that ‘The Penguin’ connects [‘The Batman’] and [‘The Batman: Part II’].

Colin Farrell’sThe PenguinIs Just The Start Of A New Batverse With More Villain-Centric Stories
The one thing that setMatt Reeves’The Batmanapart from other Batman films was its focus on non-traditional villains in Batman’s Rogues Gallery. While the Joker is his most popular adversary, Batman has had more antagonists with incredible stories like the Riddler, the Penguin, and more.
Reeves reportedly wanted to expand on Gotham City through its villains, who would otherwise not get as screentime in a film dominated by Batman. He also mentioned in an interview withAndy Serkisthat he found that a lot of these characters became villains as a reaction to Batman and, hence, wanted to explore them through that lens.

He told Andy Serkis that he had been having conversations with HBO and the studio about developing new shows on the same veins asThe Penguin. He said,
We have been talking, and it’s exciting because people are now embracing the show…I wanted to make sure that we didn’t do the origin tale, which so many of the other series have done. I think the idea of being able to put a lens on these characters is a really exciting idea. It’s about cities and their dysfunction and the world and its dysfunction, which is what Batman stories are all about.

He also mentioned that they would be stories that would be told from the perspective of the villains whileThe Batmanfilms would be completely focused on the Caped Crusader.
The Penguinis currently streaming on Max.
