TheMirror of Lossis a great way to get a boost to your stats inBaldur’s Gate 3. Appearing as part ofThe House of Griefsection in Act 3, the mirror is a Dungeons & Dragons min-maxer’s dream, as it allows you to temporarily drop your most unwanted stat by 2 (getting it back later with a Remove Curse spell) and reallocate those points permanently to your most desired stat — assuming, of course, that you can pass a pair of skill checks first.

But it seems like some players are having trouble getting past those rollson Honour Mode. In order to verify you can give the mirror one of your memories and gain the stat boost, you’ve got to pass two DC 25 checks, one in Religion to offer a prayer, and a second in Religion or Intelligence to offer up the memory. Those rolls aren’t guaranteed under normal circumstances and can really spoil your plans if you were counting on a big bump up in your favorite stat.

How To Solidify Your Mirror Of Loss Stat Boost

Fortunately, one player has found a workaround for this little problem and hasshared their findings on Reddit, and it doesn’t sound too hard to do.

First, you’ll need to go to Withers andrespec your character into a cleric(assuming you aren’t playing as one already. At level 1, you’ll want to make sure that your new cleric has a stat of 16 in Intelligence, as well as proficiency in Religion and the Guidance cantrip. For your level 2 upgrade, you’ll need to multiclass your cleric into a rogue as well, with a Religion expertise. All your other level-ups (up to the max of level 12) should also go into rogue, and you should make sure your intelligence gets boosted all the way up to 20 by leveling up.

Other players have pointed out a few random elements in the game that could still prevent players from getting their bonus, though they seem pretty rare.

When you go to the mirror, make sure a bard is along for the ride and is providing Bardic Inspiration. With all this in place — the +5 stat boost from a 20 intelligence, +8 from Religion expertise, and +2 from the combination of Bardic Inspiration and the Guidance cantrip — the rogue’s inability to get a base roll of lower than 10 due to the class' Reliable Talent perk will guarantee you a roll of at least 25 on the check. Best of all, you can go back to Withers to change back to your original build — or whatever build you want — and your +2 stat boost will carry over to that build.

Still An Element Of Chaos

While this method is seeing a lot of positive responses, calling it a 100 percent guarantee could be pushing things a bit too far. Other players have pointed out a few random elements in the game that could still prevent players from getting their bonus, though they seem pretty rare.

It is possible that, when you offer the Mirror of Loss one of your memories (which are each tied to one of your six main stats), the mirror will reject your offer. However, under normal circumstances, you can just offer the mirror one of your other memories, and since you’ll be respeccing your character using this method, which one you choose to lose shouldn’t really matter in the long run.

It should also be noted that this method won’t work for Shadowheart if she defied Shar in Act 2, though she’ll still have a chance of passing the checks. Also, if you choose Selune as your diety, you’ll be making the rolls at disadvantage, but with a minimum possible of 25 using the methods described above, that won’t matter.
