Did you ever find yourself playingARMA Reforgeron your PlayStation 5 and thinking, ‘man, I really wish I had a tank right about now?’ Well, thanks to the hard collaborative work between Bohemia Interactive and Sony,you can now finally install all the fancy mods your PC and Xbox buddies have been gloating aboutfor months on end.
The change is part of the ARMA Reforger 1.4 update, and makes the PS5 version almost a brand new game given how mod-centric the multiplayer scene has been ever since the days of ARMA 2.
By default,ARMA Reforger now preallocates 25GB on your PS5 for eventual mod downloads. The add-ons can be selected and installed through the in-game Workshop feature.
ARMA Reforger had a rocky early access launch on PC and the Xbox Series S and X back in May 2022. The game spent most of its first year on life support, but Czech FPS veteran Bohemia Interactive didn’t give up.
The game captured a small but loyal following that kept it going until the 1.0 release in November 2023. This helped ARMA Reforger cross the 1,000 average concurrent players mark, butit was still a far cry from the numbers found on its immediate predecessor, ARMA 3.
The big jump in the game’s popularity came in December 2024, when Bohemia finally releasedARMA Reforger for the PlayStation 5. Boasting unrestricted cross-play, it took the game’sdaily player count to around 172,000.

Among Steam users alone, the concurrent player numbers have hovered around the 20,000 mark, compared to less than 2,000 a year before the PS5 release.
Bohemia was transparent about working with Sony on establishing a reliable framework for mod installation.The PlayStation 5 ecosystem is notoriously exclusive of mods for most games, and it took some serious effort to develop a smooth framework for ARMA Reforger.
After some heartbreak when the PS5 workshop missed the cut forthe 1.3 release, the Sony segment of the ARMA Reforger fandom can now finallyadd those sweet Abrams tanks and Zenitco Kalashnikovs to the game.
