Lince Works, the studio behindAragamigames, has announced that it will be shutting down in April following a “particularly difficult” couple of years. The Spain-based indie studio will now cease the development of new projects and halt operations due to unfavorable economic conditions.Although the studio made good progress with the Aragami series, it, unfortunately, ran out of time after a couple of difficult years. Lince Works said it will no longer be developing new titles, while both Aragami games will remain available on all platforms and digital storefronts. The online co-op feature will also remain accessible to players. The team outlined that without new titles, the last couple of years had been difficult for financial sustainability, as they shifted towards the development of new IPs and a new course for the company.

“It is with deep regret that we have to announce that Lince Works will effectively stop the development of new projects indefinitely, starting this April.” Lince Works announced its closure via Twitter. The studio added; “The last couple of years have been particularly difficult as we shifted towards the development of new IPs and a new course for the company. We were ambitious about what we wanted to achieve as a studio, but sadly, although we made good progress, the economic context was not favorable and we ran out of time.”

Lince Works must be proud of what it has accomplished with the Aragami series over the past nine years. It was widely known for creating immersive and entertaining games as an independent team. In addition, Lince Works said all the work it has done for the past year will ultimately not come to a close, which forced the studio to halt operations from next month. “Although we may be closing our doors, the memories and experiences shared with the team and you, our fans, will remain forever.”

Lince Works was established back in 2014 in Spain, and its first title Aragami was first released in 2016. The sequel to the stealth-based indie game was launched in September 2021. Both Aragami games are available now on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
