The more users playCall of Dutyon PlayStation, the more traction Xbox is likely to get. Last year, Microsoft struck a deal that shook the gaming industry, it acquired Activision Blizzard in a $69 Billion deal. With the company, came its flagship product,Call of Duty. Conversations sparked about the game potentially moving away from Sony’s console.

Call of Duty has been losing its charm lately.

However, Microsoft promised to keep it on PlayStation, at least for some time. Now a new piece of stat has emerged over the internet which highlights the popularity of the game among PS users. However, that may be something for Sony to give a thought about.

Maybe Microsoft is Trying to Pull Call of Duty Userbase

In a post shared over social media platform X (formerly Twitter), an image highlighted that a million PlayStation players played onlyCoDon their consoles while 6 million users spent a better half of their time playing the game. It also highlights that numbers are from 2021, the same yearVanguardwas released.

Controversial Basis Aside, Call of Duty’s Get High Map is the Best Thing the Franchise Has Done in Years

This is interesting asVanguardwasn’t received very well by the fans and the critics, however, it wasn’t as bad asModern Warfare 3. Still,CoDhas a larger-than-life user base on PlayStation and if Microsoft brings the latest installment, which is rumored to be titledBlack Ops Gulf War, on Xbox Game Pass on Day 1, that could be a bit concerning for Sony.

In 2021, over 1 MILLION PlayStation players ONLY played Call of Duty on their PlayStation and nothing else

The next game in the series is likely to be transpire in the Black Ops timeline.

If that happens, many could be prompted to switch from PS to Xbox, that’s a lot of players. Appears like Microsoft’s efforts are giving the fruit to its gaming division they desired. Game Pass, the service that allows players to play the games on the day of release, is likely to see the popular military shooter according to Xbox head Phil Spencer.

Players Can Relax For Now And Enjoy The Game on PS

There are debates surrounding the game becoming Xbox exclusive. It is something that certainly will add shine to Microsoft’s gaming division. However, it is very unlikely asCoDis one immensely popular game and generates a luscious profit from other platforms.

Microsoft certainly doesn’t want to lose that sum. In one July 2023 post, Phil Spencer confirmed that they’ll keep the game on PlayStation.

We are pleased to announce that Microsoft and@PlayStationhave signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. We look forward to a future where players globally have more choice to play their favorite games.

It’s not a perfect gaming world but one user shared a beautiful insight on the post by saying, “In a perfect gaming world, every gamer should be able to play any game on any device.”

Microsoft won’t be making it exclusive but things may change down the line. However, as for now, there’s nothing solid on the topic indicating that PlayStation users will have to switch their consoles. Although anything cannot be said for certain now, butCODcoming to Game Pass on Day One will surely hurt Sony.
