After Millie was born, the family moved back to England and lived there until she was 8 years old, according to the Daily Mail (viaPeople).
The family eventually moved to Florida, where they started a teeth-whitening business that helped them stay afloat. Soon after moving to the US, her parents encouraged her to start acting. While speaking to the Daily Mail, she said
I was annoying my father one Saturday and he said, ‘We need to find you something fun to do… It was acting, dancing, singing four hours every Saturday. There was a showcase and an agent said she wanted to represent me.
An agent had advised the family to move to California to help Brown kickstart her acting career. Kelly (Brown’s mother) and Robert packed their bags and flew to California instantly. Despite the minor roles inModern FamilyandGrey’s Anatomy, Brown’s family was left financially dry.
